Angry Swirl marks...HELP

My black G20 shows swirl marks, scratches and chips so easily. They are all thin and hard to notice but I want them gone. io have tried the new BLACK turtle wax polish solution with the chipstick. It did make the car shine nicely but it did nothing for the swirl marks and blemishes. I have heard that a clay bar is great but it's Quite expensive. I need something that is fast, easy and not too expensive. I was also wondering if I could wax the car after polishing it with this formua. By the way i recommend the Meguiars buffing colth. It retails for about $10 Canadian and does a great job. ]
Thanks Everyone
Rob

Rob I use Zaino Bros stuff. Its expensive but works well. However the swirl marks are back in a couple months. Not much you can do about that except to reapply.

claybars wont take out the swirl marks. need to use something like the scratchx by meguires. hearing great stuff about that product.

claybars are great to get your surface smooth again to prep for some wax.

I use Meguires Diamond Cut Compound, then the polish and the wax to finish off.
Learn how to use a buffer.....the end result is well worth it.
By using the buffer and the Meguires the swirls etc will go.

If you're new to detailing DON'T use a buffer with rubbing compound. Like ken said, a clay bar won't take swirl marks out. BTW, they're not expensive, $15 for Mother's set. You want to use clay bars for taking contamination off the paint, such as blemishes, overspray, tar, etc. Meguiars has some good products. You could use ScratchX, but it's not really made for a whole car treatment, even though it may say so. You should use Meguiars steps; cleaner wax, polish (the most important part), and then "Gold Class" wax. The polishing should take care of the swirl marks. If they're really bad, take it to a detailer and have them cut (rubbing compound) your paint.

If you use a buffer with rubbing compound and don't know what you're doing, you can rub your paint off, "cut" it beyond repair, "burn" your paint, or strip a clear coat. When beginning, try buffing with polish or wax. It's not that hard to learn, it is time consuming but well worth it, consistency is key. I polish my car maybe three to four times a year with a fresh coat of wax every two to four weeks. You don't need to polish a lot as long as you keep a fresh coat of wax.

yeh, ive seen some serious paint damage by people who dont know how to use a buffer. I personally do not trust myself using a buffer, so only use a cotton t-shirt rags to gently wipe off the wax and buff it up. I wax my civic about every 4 weeks that is parked outdoors, about every 6 weeks for my g20 that's parked indoors, and every 6months for my lude which is parked indoors only driven on weekends and never in the rain/snow. so it depends on how much uv exposure and weather and grime your car is against.

da body will tell you when to wax it... give the car a stream of water and if the water doesnt beadup immediately, the car's in need for some wax. cleaner wax lasts a lot longer than typical wax for some reason... I use meguires stuff often and use their QuikDetailer to take off birdsh't and grime between washes. i got a midnite blue myself so take as much elbogrease to keep it lookin good. hehe.

Agree....as i said its important to learn to use a buffer as it will burn your paint if not used right.
I try and polish my car once a month and wax every second month. (Depends on how much it gets used.)
If it needs washing inbetween times i use Meguiars detailer spray after washing everytime.
Most of the time the car sits in the garage with a cover over it and dosent get used to get dirty.

oh yeh, since we are on this washing topic, after you wash your car it's a good idea to drive it around a few blocks to get all the water off the chassis. i've had to let my car sit in the garage after washing it in the winter time and damn the hubs rusted immediately. not good. but no choice as there's road salt everywhere in the winter time just makes it worse to drive it after a wash.

oh yah, never cover up your car with even a factory bodycover after a wash. it will contain the moisture even though it says the cover lets the car breathe. it does, but not enough when it's wet!

i'm gonna invest in a decent space heater to put in the garage this winter to keep the air super dry after the wash.

After washing i do just that....drive around the block to get all the water out of the rims as they are a bastard to clean and dry.
Helps to blow the water away as well before drying it
