What ECU do you use?

Hi all,

First off, a disclaimer. I know this could go in the ECU section, but then I would miss out on the people with factory ECU's and wouldn't get an accurate snapshot. It's been a while since i've been here, but I thought i'd see if I could get some input of a more US persuasion. The list for the poll may not be entirely accurate for you guys, given most of these are Australian companies, so if you guys are using any AEM, SDS, F.A.S.T., or Holley gear or anything else let me know! I've tried to keep the list the same as in other forums, so apologies for this.

If you've come across this from another forum and already answered there, I don't expect you to write again, but if you could please tick your option in the poll again so the figures aren't missing?

I'm doing a bit of research for a paper i'm doing through work. Basically, i'm after a snapshot of peoples opinions on aftermarket ECU's and how prevelant they are. I've attached a poll to this thread outlining most of the common ECU manufacturers you come across in Australia. I can only fit 15 on the list, so for users of Link, Megasquirt etc. can you please select "Other" and specify in a post. The list here is a little out of order, but I wanted to try and keep it in similar fashion to the other ones so I could quickly compare. If you have an aftermarket ECU, please select it from the poll, and if you have the time, a little spiel about what you were looking for, or why you chose it would be great.

Things like value for money, features, total cost, reputation/brand, availability of tuners, support, race results , they're all the little bits of information i'm after.

If you have an aftermarket ECU and aren't happy with it, that'd be great too, and why if you have the time.

If you don't have an aftermarket ECU, please select the appropriate option from the poll. If you're thinking about one, outline the sorts of features you're after, perhaps your budget if you're willing to divulge.

Basically i'm looking for the current market with regards to ECUs, and peoples thought process when chosing one.

Any other bits you feel you'd like to contribute would be great. Anything you think I might have missed would also be appreciated.

Cheers,
Nathan

I don't mean to be rude, but 22 views and no one even wants to click the poll?

Re: What ECU do you use?

Im kind of curious about what you want the results for, if its a marketing survey for a company, then you need to let us know who it is, so we can invoice you.
If its for a school project, then be aware that this is not a US forum, its only hosted in the US. There lots of us annoying Kiwis here as well, along with plenty of Brits and the Canuks.

Re: What ECU do you use?

Basically it's me gauging whether or not to approach my boss with an idea for an aftermarket ECU. The paper is a business plan. I want to use my powers for good instead of evil :P

Re: What ECU do you use?

I didn't click because you don't list my choice and I thought it smelled like market research. I just voted Other. My choice is the MegaSquirt.

You might not get a lot of answers here. Not many of us here talk a lot about aftermarket electronics and I don't think there are a lot of car crafters that do EFI conversions here, but I could be wrong.

Re: What ECU do you use?

I'v used seven of the ones listed, and a few others that would fall under "other". I Didnt vote because I dont like being a guinie pig without being compensated for it. And if your company isnt allready very deeply involved in this arena, then its not going to be easy to break into.
