Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
hmmmmmm...thanks for your sympathy
![]() the car does 17 flat stock (according to the ethranet) with i/h/e, i was expecting low 16s, a 15.9 wouldn't hurt! now you see why i was so disappointed i'm going to try again next year spring time as all tracks are closed where i live, i've already cancelled all planned mods for the red machine

Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
intake/headers/exhaust WILL NOT pick you up 1 second, sorry. It takes a whole lot more then that. Might get 1 second in the 1/4 with an extra 100 horsepower. i/h/e might get ya 5 in a 4-cylinder.
And that's assuming that you could have even got a 17.00 run with your car stock. What the magazines do with their professional drivers and corrected times usually aint what you (or anybody else for that matter) can do.

I was about right.
Don't worry about the first time out. I did horrible my first time out as well. It isn't easy and does take practice. Don't give up man...keep fighting it.

Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
As an owner of a 93 Corolla, I can tell you there is no chance in hell it runs a 17 stock. I'd be happy with a 19 in my car right now. With what you have done to it, that sounds about right to me.

Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
Is Ricers car an automatic?
Cause, if so, that could be why it's so slow, and why the stock 5-speed car may be able to do 17s stock...

Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
^traction is not a problem foo!
the etranet has on file that a 1993 1.8L 5 spd does a 17 flat. The 93 and 94(what i have) is the last of the OBD1 1.8L engine of this gen's model which came with the most HP. I'm also manual but my clutch is slipping away. Thanks for everyone's support! Like i said, i am very disappointed, as i've heard a couple guys are running much quicker times with their OBD1 1.8 5spd. I'll get a dyno in and see what i've got to work with! till next time! Got too many shitttt in my head right now...... |

Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
clutch slippin is owning you. how much do those rims weigh as well. it might have been better to just put on the stockies, if they weighed less.
seems that you had a pretty decent r/t as well. maybe you should look into braket racing as this is your 1dt time out.

Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
thats a pretty nice 60, guess it's easy launching a 130hp car.

Re: rice(er)'s adventure at the tracks
I'm actually somewhat suprised. I was expecting to somewhere in the 16s. Clutch slip is probably killing ya, and just tossing on bolt ons wont really add that much power on a motor that I am fully assuming isn't made for racing, so therefore its already doing the best it can. Therefore, breathing mods aren't really gonna open anything up, and even if it did, you would need to get a tune as well to tell the engine that it is getting more air. Elsewise, who knows? Fix up the clutch, get some lighter whells and stickier tires, add some boost, and maybe you can break 15s?
