question about the 99-00 compared to the 2002 limited Sport package.
My I have two friends that drives a '99 luxury and the other '00 touring
I drive a 2002 sport package. I tested alll three cars and was very baffled because they are all the same but I got these impressions -2002 are much faster than the '99 and the '00 why is that? - what difference does the 02 to the previous years all of the ones I tested was all autos. ANY ONE? |

Something to think about is that horsepower does drop over usage if the engine isn't serviced and maintained..........

Yep, over time the HP tends to decrease, although only slightly. Also, the 99 model only has 140 HP . 2000 and up have a whopping 145:o . It's not a very big difference.

well i got this info out of the june 2000 issue of scc. the 99 version of the sr20de put down 118 bhp and 115lb ft of torque to the ground
the 2000 slightly revised version of the sr20de had 5 more horses at the crank but put 126bhp and 122lb ft of torque to the ground. these were both stock motors and the 00 and up g's have shorter first and second gears but i'm not sure if they shortened the gears in the auto. But from an enthusiast standpoint it's kind of hard to find aftermarket goodies for the newer motor |

My 99 put down 123hp/119tq. It depend on the motor. Some are stronger than others even within a specific year. But yeah after 99 they changed the gear ratio and added a little hp.

I think the auto trannies were changed too. Reason being that the 00, 01 and 02 auto trannies have the same part number and price, while the 99 is different in both respects...

wish they would've geared 1st much lower on the AT like on the I30. 2nd pulls well, but 1st is like ........n.n.n.n...nnnn.n...nnnnnnnnn!!! takes forever to pull from a standstill.
