U-Bend?
Just wondering if taking the u bend off how much louder will the noise become out the tail pipes. if anyone has a soundclip of just the u bend off and replaced with just a straight pipe and the rest ALL stock let me know too.

Re: U-Bend?
I didn't notice any difference in exhaust sound. The purpose of getting rid of the ubend is to help exhaust flow and gain some horsepower although it is minimal.

Re: U-Bend?
hmm, at the moment i dont really care for having more power, i just want it to sound a little louder and decent. what else can i do for cheap to get the exhaust to sound nice or at least decent and is there anything i can do without having to replace the 2 back mufflers as well?

Re: U-Bend?
You could remove the resonator. It will be louder but the side effect is a droning sound which you will notice on trips, etc. To get the sound you are looking for will require replacment of the two mufflers with Flowmaster, Borla, SLP, etc. IMO whatever sound you get from the variety of aftermarket mufflers other than stock is too ricey sounding for my taste.

Re: U-Bend?
yeah i dont want that ricey sound. the resonater is that slightly larger pipe that runs straight right before the back mufflers right? if thats taken off do i replace it with just a regular straight pipe? if any sound clips exist of what that would sound like with just the resonater off and the rest stock too that would be great, if not i can look around youtube or something.

Re: U-Bend?
there is a dyno report showing that removing the Ubend nets 5hp and 3mpg more.

Re: U-Bend?
i got no difference in noise for my ubend delete..to be honest i didnt even notice anything..hahah but i know its goot for the car.if you plan on changing mufflers sometimes soon, then get a philips screw driver and poke a couple holes in the mufflers,,that will give it a different sound. here is a sound clip......vrooooom vroooom haha j/k later guys> ~joe

Re: U-Bend?
what i have read when most people remove the resonator they replace it will a cherry bomb or equal muffler. But as studies show, removing the cat or resonator shows no real difference in flow then leaving it on.

Re: U-Bend?
I have a stock exhaust system with the resonator taken out. I put some flowmaster mufflers on and quickly took them off and put stock ones back on. Just because I wanted a nice smooth, quiet ride. I still have the u-bend also. I did not have the resonator put back on though. Its alot louder than stock I would say 2 to 3 times louder than stock. It dose have that drone sound as Bnaylor said. I just took a 1000 mile road trip and it gets annoying. It seems like the faster you go and harder you step on the gas the exhaust gets quiet. well hope this helps somewhat.

Re: U-Bend?
From front to back it goes, Cat, Resonator, U-bend and then mufflers. The U-Bend is the peice that curves around the Spare tire area. In-Between the resonator and mufflers. I belive in your pic that you have the muffler labeled as the CAT. That pic is from the passenger side correct????
