88 caravan stall and start probs when warm

I have been going thru this for months and keep replaceing parts, nothing has worked yet. Whenever the engine gets warm, it will either stall and not be able to restart or park the car go in the store and come out it will not start, it turns over great but will not start. If I leave it sit for 2 or 3 hours it starts right up. The parts I have replaced are the fuel filter, gas pump (in tank) with Mopar pump, gas pump relay.and the distibutor, to no avail the problem still exists. Can someone please help?

89 caravan same problem

I posted this as a new thread by mistake. My 89 caravan is doing virtually the same thing. Stalls quietly, sometimes restarts immediately, always cranks--just won't start. Sometimes it happens 3 times in an 8 block distance, sometimes I go for days without it killing. I haven't replaced the ignitor yet. I hope this works--you've made my Christmas if it does, and thanks for the help even if it doesn't work.

88 caravan stalls on right turns only?

I have been having this weird problem lately, every time i turn to the right, ( while in motion, not at a stand still) the car dies... been told every thing from wires and plugs to map sensor and throttle body sensor to fuel pump... well the fuel pump works fine, starts right up after dyin, ( but does take a few cranks at first start in morn).... map sensor has been replaced once..... I just got a throttle body sensor from my local junk yard, and will try that....... I just want to see if some of the "experts" on this fourm have seen this before, like i said it only cuts off on RIGHT turns, going up or sloaping down..... if i slow down real slow and than make a slow right it will go ok, so it can't be a short in the steering like one mech said... anyway lets see what turns up here.... thanks....

Re: 88 caravan stall and start probs when warm

dammpa-
This may sound absurd, but you may be able to get another computer from the junkyard for real cheap. make sure that it comes out of the same year/engine/ they did not have an electronic tranny in 88 so you should be okay there. I have had this type of trouble before and turned out lots of times to be a fualty computer. Also try spraying throttle body cleaner thru the throttle body. Crud in there will cause the 3.0 to do this. I f you do get some codes, post them up.

OK thanks

OK thanks dammpa, for yet another item to look into, will have to first figure out what this computer on this old thing looks like and where it is haha.... but am not gona put my heart and soul into much more on this old van, its not worth more than 400 bucks anyway ...... it will be at the same junk yard soon ...( I have my eye on a new Rav4 )...I will first go ahead and replace this throttle sensor I pulled today first just to see if it helps, and do as you said, spray the hell out of the throttle body...

got a question... how is this throttle body sensor on a 3.0 v6 (88 dodge caravan) re installed.... it has some sort of spring loaded small round part that has to be held in the open or whatever position.... its right up aginst this throttle and I'm wonderin how its held in place?....
