MAC IBOOK Questions

Hey guys I was hoping to get some advise on Macs. I am thinking of buying the new IBook. The black one, 2gig dual core 1 gig, super drive blah blah. Had anyone bought this laptop? Is it worth it for me a PC guy all my life to make the switch. I basically don’t use the PC for much but surfing games pics and movies. What I would like to do is make our own DVD from our home movies and make some web pages for our my engament. Would a MAC be the way to go?

Thanks for any help
-Brody

Re: MAC IBOOK Questions

One of my old bosses who is a tech from wayy back got one of these near the start of the year and was thrilled to bits with it. Just stuff it full of RAM and you'll be laughing. If you have the budget, take the plunge...and let us all know how it goes.

It would work, but it would be a bloody expensive way to go about.
And of course you would have to spend time learning how the different interface works. Some people pick it up in a day, some take a few months.

If your PC is still resonably current you would be better off filling it up with lots of Ram, and then either buying a dedicated video editing package (which there are lots to choose from), or just use Windows Video Maker. The only other thing you might need is a cheap video capture card.

Somthing to think about not a bad idea thank you. I'm just sick of my desktop and I have yet to own a laptop so I figured maybe try somthing new and keep the desktop as well cause its only about 14 months old.

Re: MAC IBOOK Questions

If you can afford it, I would consider a Macbook Pro. Very sleek machines and can handle a lot more than the macbook can.

Ouch yes very powerful but the price is killer..I went to the Mac store to play with all of them the only thing I didnt like about the Mac was one mouse click on the laptop...I cant right click lol..I liked the integrated camera that was a niec feature thats also found on the XPS machines from dell. The XPS was alos my runner up for laptops.

do it! as someone who recently made the switch myself, i have to suggest to do so. if you are computer savvy in the least, the switch will be a no brainer for you. the operating system is remarkably intuitive. loose CTRL and take CMD (it'll make sense later). becoming a mac user is one of the best decisions i've made in my young life. don't get me wrong, windows has its positives, but OS X is that with so much more...iLife suite, i could go on for alot longer that anyone would be willing to read
