Re: 2nd Gen Celica?

Arii makes one but it's an early model coupe. I don't think I've ever seen a hatch version. Check the link below:

Re: 2nd Gen Celica?

Hmm... I conferred with the customer (it's for a model of his own car) and he says there's too much difference in the body altogether. The front end isn't the same on the first one, and the second one's back end is much more angular.

Hrm

Re: 2nd Gen Celica?

The first kit is the Celica XX (Supra in US), so it's quite different from the normal Celica.

Instead, you want the Celica Liftback 2000GT.
Arii used to sell it in 1/24 scale, but it's long out-of-production. If you can't find the Arii, I think you can modify the front end of the Eidai kit. And that Eidai is the same year as the 2nd kit mentioned in this thread (except Eidai is the liftback, whch is easier to convert.)

In this case, I think it's better waiting for the Arii kit to pop up on auction.

Re: 2nd Gen Celica?

Thank Hiroaki! That's definitely the right car. Gonna be interesting finding it though!

Re: 2nd Gen Celica?

The Arii "1977" coupe is actually a 78 or 79 model. I wrote a review on this kit a couple of years ago (search kit reviews it might still be there). The level of detail is minimal at best (I've seen much better interiors in 1/64th diecast toys)
If you aren't dedicated to 1/24-1/25th scale, Entex made a 1/20 scale 78 0r 79 model year 2nd gen liftback. The time spent converting to an 80 or 81 model like the one you have pictured would make finding the Arii Celica LB 2000GT worthwhile (as shown in Hiroaki's post). I would guess that this kit share many if the components from the "1977" coupe, but we can always hope that it doesn't! Regardless of which kit you choose, you will need to scratchbuild the european stlyle chrome bumpers since all of the kits available feature the Japanese/U.S. specification bumpers. When you find a kit to work on keep us posted on your progress, it might inspire me to finish the replica of my US spec 78 GT Liftback.

Indeed I shall. And I'm used to working with poor kits--I can make up for a lot of it

Re: 2nd Gen Celica?

Nope, as we made clear, it's a 78-81, with the round rear quarters and hatch. Thanks anyway.
