GTO vs. RWD v6 integra.

I was comming home from work and see a red 4-door teg with black painted hood zipping in and out of traffic. when he finally catches up I see he has an emblem that says V6 and a roof scoop mounted backwards on the trunk lid.
Im thinking total ricer!
I get ahead of him and we end up at a light with him behind me. He starts reving so I figure I'll just launch and leavehim forgotten in the back pack.
bull, as soon as I go the moffo pulls hard and gets next to me! I was so freaked out that I bounced it off the rev limiter and when I shifted to 2nd I just sat there spinning my wheels. he didnt get farther then 2 cars cause of traffic. when I pull up to him again I see that his rear is sealled off from the front. behind the front two seats there is a huge wall of sheetmetal and a roll cage. I ask the guy if its RWD and he says "yeah, we dropped a 3.2 liter in the back and converted it to rwd". I was blown away. I asked him for another run and he smiles. "yeah I figred you blew it". Im like "yeah you friggin surprised me"!

we line up at another light and ran. I got a car and a half off the line but he realled me in a half car and we stayed there up to third. I figure if Im running 13.7s then he must be at around 13.9?

Re: GTO vs. RWD v6 integra.

An Integra GSR with bolt-ons should be able to run a low 14 high 13...??

Dropping in a 3.2 V6 and pulling off a 13.9 doesn't sound right at all...welp, depending on what kind of HP that engine makes and what it was, I don't know. Maybe I'm a little off base, but still, RWD...3.2...Integra...I'd say he would have to be running much better than a 13.9.

Well, you said you blew it during the first race...that satisfies me enough to know that you still suck at launching the GOAT....

Good race Mushy. Atleast you pulled out the win the second race.

a b18c with bolt-ons will cut low 14s to high 13s in a hatch.....but a b18c with bolt-ons in an integra shell will be in 15s...

I didn't get to know Honda's for nothing. A good driver in a GSR could cut a high 14 sec 1/4 mile time stock. I've seen it happen several times. A b18C1 (stock) in a Civic Hatch will run mid to low 14's. Bolt-ons...easily 13's if the driver doesn't suck ass.

I've gone to the Rocky Mountain Raceway track in Utah several times. I've been in the pit with many Honda/Acura owners. That's all who I really knew for that matter. I've seen on several passes an Integra GSR cut a 15.2 and 14.8 time with bolt-ons (Intake, Header, Exhaust, TB, and Intake Mani). Also to factor in this is roughly a mile in the air, Mr. Luos knows what I'm talking about. N/A cars suffer greatly with the high altitude. I'd say at sea level, that same Integra with the bolt-ons would pass a low 14 to high 13 sec. 1/4 mile pass.

The B18's open up fairly well with bolt-ons. Nothing great or impressive, but the DOHC engines have better potential then that Single Cammed Civic I used to own. Stock GSR's would eat my Civic up on most occassions. And that Civic I owned wasn't that bad either.

I'm trying to look up what kind of engine that was dropped into that Teg. I figure it may have been an Accord V6 or an Acura TL V6. Although, as for the drivetrain being a RWD car, I'm a little stumped. That's what makes it hard to figure out what engine they used for the swap and all...

Re: GTO vs. RWD v6 integra.

2nd gen NSX is a 3.2 V6 RWD Honda, but thats a long shot for them to actually spend the time and money to convert the 'teg with the NSX powertrain.

But then again maybe they have with the whole backhalfed car and roll cage, never heard of it though, would be kinda cool if they did.

i think some high-end Hondas an Acuras used the same engine, although in a lesser state of tune. i think the Acura CL had/has a 3.2-litre V6, which is transversely mounted, so they could get hold of that engine/gearbox/suspension fairly easily and drop it in.

by no means impossible.

Re: GTO vs. RWD v6 integra.

Yeah the engine was in the back of the car, like in the trunk. Which explains the roof scoop mounted backwards on the trunk lid, I guess its to expell heat from the motor.
The whole back of the car was sealled off from the front. and yes it was rwd.
Its not the first time I see a RWD teg but it was the first time I see a MR teg!

I know a shop here in miami made a Focus SVT with a honda engine mounted in the hatch, its the only MR focus Ive ever seen.

Im wondering about the speed too. all that work and he ran like that? well maybe its still waiting to get fine tuned.

well im at sea level and pretty much most of the dc integras I see run here are in mid to low 15s with bolt ons.....not saying its impossible for a stock body gsr with bolt-ons to clock low 14s but 13s c-mon.....all my buddys are honda fanatics....when they had there b18c swap with mild bolt-ons they couldnt break 13s.....granted they were on streets but they also could drive plus the swap was in a hatch....
