My first encounter with an RX-8....hahaha

Well coming back from my storage dropping some stuff off I take march lane home a main street....crusin down the strip...I notice a green rx-8 in my rear view zipping and weaving threw traffic....well coming up to a stop light he decides to pull next to me on my left instead of stay behind me like he was....curious to know what the driver looked liked I glanced over and didnt expect to see what I saw.....an old flip dude....saying to my self WTF and thinking well its probably his sons car.....after seeing an old guy in the drivers I think nothing of it....until he throws some revs....with out looking at me he revs some more and then he holds it like hes going to launch on me....so im like what the hell ...the light turns green...I hit it....spinning the wheels I let off and hit it again to get back my traction.....I get a good car on him from the dig......second gear hes at my bumper....third gear hes at my door....and fourth gear he ends up right next to me.....we then hit a light that is full of cars.....suprised how well I did I kinda laughed....instead of trying to run me again he just zipps off again....after the race I wondered if he was intentionally trying to race me or maybe he just wanted to get a quick joy ride in his sons car .....cause I dont see my stock silverado as something to race.....maybe he knows something I dont....

HAHA i was kinda wondering wtf you were talking about, an rx-8 keeping up with your srt-4 in a straight line. But at the end it all made sense , but i dont think he was going all out cause he should have beat you a little worse than that.

Re: My first encounter with an RX-8....hahaha

Good run w/ the RX8. The RX8 isn't a straightline shooter. Heck, a Camry V6 or an Accord V6 will beat it in the 1/4 mile.

Don't you think that is exaggerating a bit?

Good run with the 8 though, and most 8 owners are 30+ years old.

The new Lexus IS350/Toyota Camry with the 3.5L V6 (Lexus: 272hp, 254ft-lbs/Toyota: 268hp, 248ft-lbs) and 6-speed automatic tranny can do 14.5s in the 1/4 and roughly 5.5 0-60mph.

So, it's definately possible.

Will it happen everytime? Not likely, but one were to get the jump on you, you'd have a heck of a time catching up.

You are right on the Camry, but wrong about the IS350. You are thinking of the ES350, which is essentially the "Lexus-ized" version of the Camry.

The IS350 has 306HP and is capable of 13.6 stock. This car will absolutely smoke an RX-8 in a straight line, and be close to a 2006+ Mustang GT.

If I happen to lose to one, you will be the first to know, but I doubt I would lose to one mag times or not. If I didnt lose to one in the jetta when it was stock I doubt I would lose to one in the 8 seeing as how the 8 is definately faster when they are both stock.
