Backup lights and trunk release not working

I have a 97 Grand Prix, my backup lights and trunk release stopped working. I checked the fuses and everything checks out okay. I checked the leads with a volt meter and there is no power going to the trunk release or lights. Any ideas on what else could be the issue?

Thanks,

TG

Re: Backup lights and trunk release not working

The backups lights and the trunk release to include relay and solenoid share the same 12 volts. So check the fuse marked B/U LP (10A). Even if the fuse looks good with a 12 volt test lamp or multimeter check the voltage directly at the fuse socket. Make sure you are either in reverse for backup lights and park for trunk release. After that the only component they share in common is the transmission range switch (aka PRND321/neutral/park switch) located on the driver's side of the transmission. Other than that you may have a wiring problem.
