P1573 code on 98 Grand AM SE

Just bought a 98 grand am se, 3.1 with an auto. Getting the p1573 code. The car is missing a radio, not sure if that would trip the code. Any suggestions, beside bringing it to the dealer?

*First post, hope I got it right.

Re: P1573 code on 98 Grand AM SE

Welcome to AF.

What brand odb-ii scanner was used? That is a very uncommon DTC and it is generic in nature.

P1573 - PCM/EBTCM Serial Data Circuit

Loss of serial data communications between the PCM module and the ABS module (Electronic Brake Traction Control Module) located under the dash.

I'm not sure if a missing radio would cause that.

Re: P1573 code on 98 Grand AM SE

I used a friends snap-on $$$$ scan tool with the troubleshooter. The abs light is on, I forgot about it, i'll check that connection. Thanks!
