Re: Is it safe?

I don't know what the standard is that other people use, but I am pretty impatient and usually do it after about 24hrs with no ill effects.

Re: Is it safe?

It depends how rough the sandpaper is that you are using and how much sanding you need to do.I have some incredibly fine wet and dry sandpaper which if I'm sanding out some very fine imperfections (a bit of dust, small hair etc) I will use as soon as the paint is touch dry (usually about an hour).Bearing in mind though that when I spray I don't apply thick heavy coats but thin light coats which dry faster. If I get a run in the paint I may leave it for 24 Hrs or at least the next day before I sand it out.

Re: Is it safe?

if you use a dry sanding method, you will, no matter what, get a ruined paint job unless you let the paint set untill fully cured, and if it's enamel, NEVER dry sand, it WILL ball up and ruin the paint EVERY TIME!!!

in short....use 800 or finer grit WET sanding for base/intermediate coats, then use a polishing system that gets down to about 12000 or finer grit then buffing compound, then polish/wax.
