98 Ford Explorer SOHC 4.0

hi.. i accidently pulled 3 spark plug wires out and i dont know which order they go back onto the distributer box. Can someone post me a diagram of how it suppose to go on please. thank you in advance

If you're holding the coil pack with the electrical connector pointing towards you (on the right side), the right tower nearest the connector is cyl 1, to the left of that is cyl 2, and on the left is cyl 3. Upper left is cyl 4, upper middle is cyl 6, and upper right is cyl 5.

Are you asking for the cylinder numbering, ie: which cylinder is #1? Going off the top of my head, cylinder #1 will be the cylinder closest to the belts on the right side of the vehicle (passenger side in the USA). Cyl 3 will be near the firewall on that side, and cyl 4 will be the other bank nearest the belt side of the engine and cyl 6 near the firewall.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, and I'll try to confirm that on my service manual at home tonight.

You are right Rod. Passenger(right)side is 1 to front of engine, 2 in the middle and 3 to the rear. Drivers(left)side is 4 to the front 5 in the middle and 6 to the rear. Maybe this will help.
