Flags of Our Fathers

I've begun seeing posters for this at bus stops around DC. It looks like it involves Iwo Jima, since they show the famous flag raising picture on the poster.

I know Clint Eastwood is directing, so I'm hoping its good.

Re: Flags of Our Fathers

I read a commentary on imdb.com from someone who claimed to be a production assistant on this movie. The commentary was about the inaccuracies by the 70something year old tech advisor who was a Viet Nam vet not a WWII vet. I sent the commentary to my brother who does WWII re-enacting and he posted it on a forum he belongs to. Next thing I know some weirdo calls me at my work number listed at the bottom of my email signature. The dumbass didn't even realize it was a law firm number. I was like wth? He said he was a vet so I didn't want to be rude, but I think he shoveled a lot of bullshit. Anyway, I'll probably see this film with my dad.

Re: Flags of Our Fathers

that's pretty funny. actually, i'll probably see this with my dad as well. His birthday is this month and he never gets out to the theater anymore (or at least to movies he wants to see) unless myself or my brother are visiting.

Saving Private Ryan is without a doubt one of the best war movies ever. What sets it apart though, to me, is the realism of the Normandy Invasion.

Since Mr. Steven is helping to produce this and seems to have some of the same color, I'm excited. I think this is going to be a great film that will make you cry at the very end. I'll admit it, Ryan made me cry and sometimes still makes me cry. I know the story isn't real but damnit a whole lot of that stuff was real.

Anyway I have very high hopes for this.

Re: Flags of Our Fathers

Saw this movie Saturday. I must say that it was extremely depressing. I'm still wondering why I went to see it. I know my dad likes war movies and history. But damn... just damn... at least Paul Walker's character dies... (along with most everybody else)

Re: Flags of Our Fathers

from what i gather, they have also got plans for a sort of "sequel" to show the other side of the battle.
this isn't here in the UK yet but it is looking stunning and looks to be, along with the other film, to be a truely complete picture of war.
