What am i doin wrong??? (subs bottoming)

allright i just hooked up my stero in my 2000 civic ex and the dang subs are bottoming when i turn it on or off. It plays just fine after the horrendous sound of my sub half blowing. I'm using 4 gauge power and ground and mtx amp and JL subs with a line out converter and stock HU so whats up? I can't figure it out. Any one know??

mine do the same thing. supposedly what the problem is, there is still a pretty large charge in the amp when the car is turned off, but nowhere for it to go, so it is released into the sub. the way around this is to have the subs turn off before the HU turns off, so the charge is drained. as for when you turn the car on, i guess the same thing should still work, but i dont know.

yep, you have the infamous turn-on/off thump. It's the fault of the amp - try wiring the remote turn on to a switch, and see what causes the least noise - turning on/off the amp before/after the stereo

yea, hook one side of the switch to constant 12V and the other side to the remote wire you already have run to the amp. It will give you the opportunity to turn the amp on/off independent of the stereo.
