Found Supra Need opinion
Hey everyone im here from the celica group and need an opinion on a deal i found. A guy near me owns a performance shop and has a 86.5 supra Non turbo with a Japanese motor for sale for $1000. Its targa top, with new clutch and new head. The motor isnt in the car but it comes with it. So my question is.. He is willing to trade my 1990 celica gts and give me 1500 cash. Is the car worth the trade even tho I will have to put the motor, clutch and tranny in myself?

Oh i forgot.. The motor has approzimatly 70,000 miles on it.

I would check the value on the car and yours and then see how much it would be to check that motor and intall it, or rebuild it then install it. If it turns out in your favor I'd go for it. Also check the frame of the car as best as you can as well as the interior and what not. Any other questions just ask away

The interior is in good shape for being 20 years old.. the targa doesnt leak he ran a water hose over it and showed me. I cant find any rust in the front fenders,rear fenders, rear quarter panel or trunk...is there anywhere else? Also there will be no cost to put the motor in accept motor oil and bolts because im doing it myself... the motor is a jdm crate motor with only 70,000 miles on it and its been sitting in a garage since it was taken out. So to me i think its worth it but idk if im just excited that its a supra or if it really is a good deal.. Mkiii supra = my dream car haha

Its not a bad deal. I would see what kind of deal you can get on the body only and order up turbo motor. They are only about $900 or so.

I remember you back from celica's. Just dropping by to say hi. Havent seen you (or been here) for ages. I just got an mk3 myself recently, but n/a automatic. Future prospect is switching to manual trans. But as if right now, lots a work needs to be done. This one going daily driver....
So you're giving up the 5th gen huh? Im actually going to get one soon. lol! Toyota forever!

I have a 87 turbo for sale for 1300 so check the papers cause you can find a better deal.

Depending on the shape your celica is in.... If its not a landslide loss i would...
Sell the celica Buy another supra with the 1500 Sell the parts and motor off of the supra you inherited. Or combine the monies and get yourself a turbo supra. Turbo is the fun way to go in the supras.
