Braking Vibration

A few months back I had new brake pads put into my 89 Civic. Shortly after I noticed when braking hard there was a very noticeable shudder and vibration. I thought perhaps it was just the new pads breaking in or something and never took it back to get it looked at even though I should have. I'm still having the same problem and I was wondering if anyone has ideas as to whats causing the vibration and shudder. Any help is apreciated. Thanks <3

Re: Braking Vibration

When you replaced the pads did you replace/have your rotors turned? A warped disk will cause vibration.

Re: Braking Vibration

Sounds to me like your rotors are warped. I'd just get new ones from like autozone for around 10 bucks a pop. The brake vibration can not only get to be annoying, but can also wear out your lower balljoints and some bushings.

Re: Braking Vibration

Yeah it'll definitly be beating your suspension up. I'd replace the rotors ASAP.

Re: Braking Vibration

I agree with those guys...air in the brake lines can cause a shudder to, but you would notice your brake pedal going down towards the floor if that were the case and by the sounds of things you didn't have any brake lines removed recently. My rotors were warped when I first bought my car and the rotors looked fine when I took a quick glance and the car passed the safety inspection no problem...I got sick of the vibration and swapped out the rotors...no more vibration

Re: Braking Vibration

I'm a tech at a stealership so I see alot of beat ass cars alot, and I've never gotten a virbration from ait in the lines, since the system can't even provide enough clamping force in the line due to air not being able to be compressed in the same way as a liquid.

anyway, it could be from a rust ridge, or just from the rotors being old and warped. best bet would be to just get a new set of rotors, turing them will cost about the same price.
