how many times has this happened to you?

went down to the center of town for a haircut.... got out after, and with my change, decided to go top off my tank. so, i drive by a parking lot on a back street, and a gray primered 5.0 with a fiberglass cowl induction hood with twin "turbo" style intakes and black racing stripes is pulling out of a back lot. he revved at me as i drove by, so i revved back at him.... he pulled out, following me and revved again. i turned right onto a road to go to the gas station, and dropped the hammer, swinging the rear end around spinning the tires. he followed. i stopped and put my blinker on to turn right into the gas station. i expected him to follow me in, so we could set up a spot for me to run his doors off, but instead he went straight, turned left, and power shifted down the road. what a pussy. i hate it when people are pussies. anyways, how many times has this hapened to you guys? it's happened to me more than i can count.

Maybe he thought you were the one chickening out by turning into the gas station. Just a thought.

Thats what I was thinking. I have never had someone pull over to set up a race spot. Usualy the guy who pulls off cant take the pressure.

Well I haven't had that problem, but I have had times where I have tried to antagonize people into a race, you know, revving the engine, giving them "the look" etc., only to have them not bite, which is equally frustrating.

from my experience, and as is custom around where i live, when someone wants to race a serious race, you play "follow the leader," stop at a place such as a gas station or parking lot nearby, check out the goods, make a little small talk, and then drive to the nearest race spot or whatever is readily available. that's what's usually customary for the hardcore crowd. whenever i go out to rt. 9 for the races on a friday or sat. night, we cruise around, find a race, stop, and then agree on a spot to lay down the hammer. it's an unwritten rule of sorts.

Wow, that's a lot more formal than how I get people to race me, lol.

I have only had this happen once, just not exactly how it happened to you though. Two weeks ago I was out with one of my friends cruising and I passed a late model honda civic, I was in the far right lane on a three lane road and he was in the far left, so it wasn't like I was trying to start anything. I get in the middle lane and he drops right behind me and starts riding my bumper, so I get ahead of the little bit of traffic in front of me hoping that he will follow and get in a lane beside me as we come to the next light. Nope, he flies right by me and into the left turn lane. So I think he knows somewhere better to race and I jump in the turn lane behind him. He floors it through the turn so I gun it as well and still pass him before I even get into third. (and he had a head start..lol) I still wasn't satisfied and I know he couldn't have been so I figured he would want to race from a stop like I wanted to. So I hit my brakes and come almost to a stop making it completely obvious that I wanted to race and he turns off onto a residential street just to the right of where I was stopping. what a chicken shit. ok I'm done ranting now

well back when the Nova was running around with its Mild but by no means Wild 350. I didnt have much cash to throw around (like for gas!) so i didnt race much. So for the most part i looked like the wussy not wanting to race... something about racing, then coasting to a stop ... then pushing the car just didnt seem like fun.

oh well, but when i did get topped off, thanks Mommy! hahah, i was willing to go at it but of course with my luck i never found much, except the same 72 Chevelle from my school. We were an even match, he was heavier with a healthier 350 engine, i was lighter with an OK 350. But now, i've got the stroker working for me but i just need a transmission for the car now. Within 2 weeks i'll order it along with stall converter, and shift kit... which is only $1300 (dohh!).

*grumbles..* then i need a rear end.... sumbitch!

Cant say I've ever had that happen to me. I dont get many chances to race. Most of the time, its a quick line up at a traffic light and its over by the next one. Not many places to run side by side once you get out of town around here.

happens all to much to me

Untill some random punk buzzes me and acts like he won...when i'm driving the speed limit (or near to)

Then they wont go from a light, they just rev and shout slow and irritating lines at me. Oh if I had those police ram bars...:bandit:
