1998 750il Cell Phone Upgrade?
Hi All,
I have a 1998 750il (E38) manufactured in 5/1997. The car has an analog only CPT 7000. It cannot be activated with any wireless carriers at this time. I need to upgrade the phone, and I am considering going to the CPT 8000, but I have read that the 8000 only will work properly with ibus enabled 750il cars manufactured after 11/1997. Since mine was manufactured prior to this date, then I assume I can upgrade to the CDMA digital Startac CPT 7000. Can anyone confirm this? Can I use a CPT 8000 in this car and use the integrated features? Any comments would really be appreciated! This information is hard to come by! Thanks! Paul |

web site for you to review
Pausin,
Motorola has a web site set up for Bmw dealers in the USA but we have our ways :-) hehehe. go to http://tcg.motorola.com/bmw/cpt7000/ your usere name is: bmwna your password is: digital This site tells you everything you want to know just spend some time on ti and read both the CPT 7000 and CPT8000 pages because when they broought out the 8000, lots of people wanted to upgrade. The official word on upgrades is there under the CPT8000 pages. Good luck John |

Thanks for the quick reply...
Hi John,
Thanks for the fast reply. Yes, I have been to that site, and I have found a lot of good info. I am wondering if anyone else has come across any other additional tech notes, information, or experiences on this subject -- thanks again! Regards, Paul |

Hello fellow BMW enthusiast, Hopefully someone has had some luck finding a way to get a phone intergrated into the 98 750il. I see where some information was availible on the moto site however they have sold out and no longer provide that resource as of 7/1/07. If anyone has a fix for this issue please reply. I would even consider building an adapter to intergrate a newer type phone however would need some schematics to the old type system. No company provides service for these old analog phones anymore.
