I have a 99 civic dx hatch. I wanted to replace the front grill with a type-r one and was told buy a parts dealer that the SI and the Type-R are really the same, except that the Type-R leaves off the honda emblem (he told me the part numbers were the same). Is this true???
My main question is this: Can I replace the front grill of my civic with the mesh cover of the SI without having to replace the entire front grill? Meaning, can I just buy the mesh piece for an SI and stick in my front grill area without having to buy the molding piece that goes around it? If this is possible, it would cut the cost in half since I am just buying the mesh piece instead of having to replace the entire from grill (the molding and the mesh piece).
