There is no way in hell you beat a 99 Maxima in a stock GS I have a 96 Maxima and if you look at the stats you are obviously a lying bitch.

When the maxima is parked on the side of the road, it's difficult to consider it "in the race," you know..

Were you there? Did you see the race? If not, don't make your pointless comments. Sure the story sounds fishy, but posting your BS won't help.

Even if the Maxima was an automatic, it still does 15.2 in the 1/4 mikle. The 95 GS does it in 17.1, and thats the manual. Go to www.car-stats.com for updated times. I think the Civic v-tech would beat his eclipse too!

Gotta say here, I have a 97 RS, with some mods (AEM cold, generic big exhaust) and all that stuff did really is make the car gain 4 mpg and sound cool. I basically baby it anyway but after reading all this stuff lately about people with "normally aspirated" eclipses I decided to line-up & let'r RIP next to various autos...
I took the 6 year old next door in his battery powered Hum-vee with ease, maybe he shoulda recharged it first.
I legitimately beat a similar year civic (friend's got one with no mods) with ease and was able to stop before we ran outa room. His car couldn't stop and ran off into the dirt. So we learned that the stock eclipse brakes are better than the civic.
I finally just revved the engine next to someone @ a stop light in like a late 90s full size truck. Well I could keep up with it but when two lanes went to one he had me , it didn't pull away and I could have beat it over a mile or so but it took me in the 1/4 for sure. Funny thing was when we took off some yea-hoo in a mustang GT musta wanted in on the fun & he took us both like we were standing still passing on the outside somewhat through the dirt shoulder!?!? Bottom line for eclipses IMHO if it aint got a -T or X in the model than it's "show car" @ best. Don't get me wrong, I am loving my eclipse too it's a real looker but its not gonna win me any races...
