98 Civic Burned Cd problem

I have a 98 Honda Civic EX with the stock cd player below the dash near the cup holders. it has problems reading some burned cd's. is there a recommended brand of cd-r's to use, or should i look into replacing the stereo????

please let me know if anyone else has similar problems. thanks.

I would recommend Sony Brand CD-r's for music cds. They're the best I've found for working in pretty much all stereos.

Also, I'd say theres more of a chance that the problem is your burner/computer.

What type of Burner is it?
What brand of cd are you using?
What speed do you burn at?
Do you convert the MP3's to wavs before hand?
Do you burn it on the fly or create an ISO?

It'd be easier to answer with a little more information.

yeah, i agree. I think the problem is probably with the burner. I have a really old 2X one that only plays some of the songs some of the time. On my friends CDs that they burned with their burners i never have any problems

well.....lately, i've been using an IOMEGA predator cd burner....it connects to my computer by a usb port (maybe that's the problem).....i usually always burn from mp3's to cd and the programs converts them to .wav's before burning. i've been using tdk's lately and my car stereo is the only one they won't play in......or it'll start playing after 30 seconds of just spinnig in the cd player.

i've tried burning at 2x and 4x speed just to see if it made a difference, but it didn't.

maybe the burner is shitty

You would be safer with a lower speed so it has enough time to process your files. Otherwise you'll get the buffer under run error. I can't see USB affecting anything. TDK is a good brand of cd's. You're pretty much safe unless you use Imation

I'd experiment and have some friends burn cd's and try them out or try your cd's on their cars to maybe see if you notice a pattern in anything. There are too many variables to pinpoint one cause... could be your burner, the program, the brand of CD, your car radio, etc...
