Six Flags!!!

These are just what I took at the end of the day. We had to wait till hte park closed so my friend could get is phone back. Long story...but i went and got my camera for some pics.

As always, i put everything up there, some random, others experiments, and others i wished i had a tripod but they still turned out cool. but serisouly, aren't teh ferris wheel ones awesome???

Kingda Ka, world's tallest and fastest roller coster. 456ft and 128mph in 3.3 seconds. They use the samething on there as aircraft carries do to launch jets.

oh yeah, that's fast...not really. it was kinda slow.

Re: Six Flags!!!

i don't like the Kingda Ka. There's so much hype about a 20 second ride that you wait on line for 3 hours for, and only have a 50% chance of even getting on because the damn thing is shut down so often for maintenance. I liked the Batman & Robin Chiller much better, it was slower, but same concept, LIM coaster, but it seems its barely ever on these days. Nitro is my favorite by far!

also, very nice pic of superman, there

Re: Six Flags!!!

well, we rode it first thing as soon as it opened, first people there!!! w00t

Chiller is down all season. We're making a documentary of everything closed the day we went and how they closed the park an hour early. I want my money back. I paid for 4 people, me and my friends, so we could have fun and like 8 things were closed. Kingda Ka is 50seconds by the way. El Toro though was nice.

I live about an hour and a half from Six Flags at Darien Lake between Rochester and Buffalo NY. It was placed on a "list" this year by Six Flags as target for closure or sale. I guess Six Flags has lost a lot of money in recent years,(billions) and wants to close at least six parks by next year. Well. a couple of days ago, the news reported that Darien Lake was closing a month earlier ( September 30,) and three major rides were shut down for the rest of the season,(don't know their names, I think they mentioned Batman as one of them.) The park now closes an hour earlier, and talk is that they want to open only 5 days a week for the rest of the season. Doesn't look too good for our area, loss of 2200 jobs, and millions in tax revenues.

That sounds about right from the news reports. The sad part about our situation is that Six Flags has recently put millions of dollars in upgrades and new attractions here since purchasing the complex, (within the last 10 years, can't remember the exact number.) A big portion of the money spent to upgrade came within the last 3 to 4 years. Six Flags hopes to either find a new buyer, or dismantle the whole park and sell the land to developers. I don't think the latter is feasible as it pretty much is open farmland with very few other attractions in the area to lure new development.

Re: Six Flags!!!

they just arent much anymore. i got into an arguement with the manager, light argument, so that wouldnt totally dismiss me. but i was talking how i lived in orlando been to all those and how well they're runned blah blah blah...

all i got was, well, we're not them. yet tey continued asking, "what park does this etc?" im answering what park does this better ya dumbasses!!! they didnt update anything online. they said, "oh yes verything is updated" and i replied with, "so i guess the servers arent working either" and she replied weakly "oh, um, yeah." she didnt have a clue what i was talking about.

Re: Six Flags!!!

when i went to SUNY Buffalo, we used to go down to Six Flags Darien Lake all the time, they had pretty nice rides, and was cheap as hell compared to Great Adventures here in tri-state area. Always had killer concerts there, too.

Yes, they do have great concert there! However, corporate greed has taken over and now you no longer get free admission to the park when you purchase your concert tickets. You have to buy a separate admission if you want to see the attractions and go on the rides, as they are no longer included with the concert tickets.
