Rear Parking Assist

All I get is a blinking red light. Anyone know what is going on and how to fix it? Thanks Aaron

Can you tell us more? Has it ever worked, what year, etc.?

Re: Rear Parking Assist

Sorry I was in a hurry last night.

It is a 2002 Chevy Venture WB edition. I bought it about a month ago and it has never beeped and it only blinks one red light. Aaron

Ah - "New to you" van.

I don't have this "feature" on my van but was thinking about trying to install it. It sounds like you are getting power when you shift into reverse (that's good).

Have you done any inspection of the components? I would check the wiring between the sensors (in the rear bumper) and the control box.
You could also have a damaged sensor that makes the display "stick" on only one light. I will see if I can get more information.

Take Care,

Re: Rear Parking Assist

Based on the factory service manual:
The first thing that should happen when you shift into reverse (with Ignition ON) is a "Bulb Check" where all three lights should come on for about 2 seconds.

If the red indicator flashes continuously, the on-board diagnostic mode needs to be entered to determine if a malfunction is present.

To enter the diagnostic mode, do this:

1 - With the ignition OFF, short the rear parking assist diagnostic connector to ground while the van is in PARK.
The diagnostic connector is located inside the van above the right-rear wheelhouse. This means you will have to remove some of the trim panels to get to it.
2 - Turn the ignition ON.
3 - Place your foot on the brake.
4 - Shift into REVERSE within 5 seconds.

When the diagnostic mode is first entered, the rear parking assist display lights the amber outside indicator and the red outside indicator. Then the indicators on the rear parking assist display will show one or more sequences listed in a trouble list.

Once you get to this point, let me know what you see. I am in the process of gathering more information for you to use.

Be sure to check your private messages.

Take Care,

Re: Rear Parking Assist

I have this same problem. Can someone give more infomation on how to fix this? My van is a 2001 chevy venture warner bros edition. It never worked since I have owned it. It did work one day when I was backing up straight and a guard rail was behind me. I tried it in same location again and it keeps blinking red
