Can things like this really provide a noticeable gain?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1850933276

Do performance chips really have a strong affect on a car's performance? Take this one for instance (although I wouldn't buy a homemade kit) wouldn't it be a BAD thing to trick your engine into thinking the incoming air is colder? Or is that how performance chips generally function.

Chips on accords are useless unless you are trying to set land speed records and need to go faster than 115mph.... Air fuel controllers on the other hand can make a diff when tuned properly...

Every accord that I know of that is computer opperated shuts the fuel off at 115mph for safety reasons unless its chipped.... If your speedo says more than that it is either chipped or the speedo is wrong...

Mine didnt do anything till it read 135, i think i might have had my intake and exhaust on but thats it. At 135 it made this strange noise, it didnt seem like the fuel cut-off, almost like it kicked itself out of gear. But it was right when it hit 135. But its probably my speedo, but don't ruin my fun!

Thats exacly what the fuel shut off feels like.... all it does is cuts the power to the motor so you can't go any faster.... I won't ruin your fun!

Actually from 92 and up, the shut-off gowerner is at 119. You can bypass that but how often do you cruise over 119

the ex models do not have a rev limiter, the lx and dx models do. my 94 accord lx cuts off at 116 mph, it starts like jumping when it hits the rev limiter because it cuts the fuel off. the ex models should do around 130. when my rev limiter kicks in im only at about 4k rpm.

Out here in New Mexico, the opportunities to safely cruise over 120mph are frequent.
We have many straight, boring roads and very few state police. When I was a kid, my dad (who spent serious money on good tires) would set the cruise control at 100mph...more if mom wasn't in the car.
I whipped mom's Cadillac up to the chipped limit, and it was freaky. As soon as it hit 117 it acted like something was seriously wrong. That alone was enough to make me back off...for about 5 minutes.
I got her car to the dealership for its 'service', and they called her up. "Ms. ****, do you realize this car has been at its maximum speed three times? And that it has been at maximum decelleration three times?"
I was totally busted by the car's computer! JERK!
Grrrrr....

i've had my '92 ex up o 126 and it still wanted to go but unfortuately there are not too many roads around here that are strait enough to go faster. Taking bends at 126 mph is one hell of an experience but it is also scary cause you never know.....you could loose traction at any second. ohh ya and its a stock ecu
