Any experience installing anApplie iPod

Ok, call me crazy, but I want to get an Apple iPod to have every single one of my CD's at my disposal at all times. You can put up to 400 CD's on a singleplayer. Some cars do have the capability to install a cable into the back of the head unit so that you can use the iPod as your "cd" player. Imagine having 4,000 tunes right at your disposal!

Has anyone tried to do this?? I have no idea what that back of my head unit has for inputs. I have a 2002 325XiT. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. What inputs are there? Can I wire into the CD changer input (I don't have the cd changer installed).

Thanks.

I'm of no help to this question, but I can tell you that I've seen people attach it as one would a portable CD player. You use one of those cassettes that attaches to the iPod and it works.

Incidentally, iPods are SO AWESOME! Only a company as unbelievably brilliant as Apple could have come up with such a masterpiece. 20GB in something the size of a deck of cards that is easy to use and beautiful to look at?! Oh man!

OK, good luck 1st ur not gonna get ur bmw to control the ipod, ull have to use it's controls. u have 3 options that i no of to get ur ipod to play:

1. use PookJP's method, get a cassette adapter (very common, in discman "car kits", hoping u have a cassette player)

2. get an RF modulator, which hooks up to your FM antenna, usually for hooking up sattelite radios or CD changers to factory stereos

both these options are less than $30. if you have tape player go with #1, period. this RF modulator doesnt even need hooking up just set it down (get a car power adaptor for the ipod though):

list of all products: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...?c=3&s=0&g=771

RF modulator (SoundFeeder): http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...6SF120&o=m&a=0

the other 2 are the tape adaptors (on the first link)

3. you could simply do a google search, ill be lookin today but wanna get this browser window closed ... apparently a lot of effort is being put into doing what you want...someone hooked up an Alpine MP3 changer to their BMW, and someone else got their headunit (CD player/display in dash) to display a song title. ill post my findings here. also, who knew that apparently the 2003 BMWs come with an aux input! (just what you need to hook up your ipod), you just have to ask the dealer for the adaptor. anyways:
