Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

can't wait for the project to be done

side question...were these the infamous flying CLK-GTRs in le mans? if they are, i'm definitely picking one up from the local model shop soon.

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

but the flying ones I think drove in the 1999 Lemans.. they had some problems in the front aerodynamics if I´m not wrong..

Maybe your local hobby shop has the D2 Privat version?

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

This is not the famous 'Flying CLK' Mercedes from LeMans.

noo not this one.. they are 2 years later version.. this one ran in 1997 and the famous flying ones are 1999 versions..

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

The CLK in any shape or form has never flown, the CLR is the 'flying Mercedes'

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

first update.. howbout that? hehe

I don´t know what you guys think but I think that I have been starting to work abit slower.. a year back and this one would be done today

STILL I´m trying to figure out the best way to simulate CF pattern without bying any.. I tried the mesh-version.. didn´t go that well :/ What if I spray silver and lay down some light mists of black on top?

I have painted the body with TS-17 and this is how it looks with 2 coats of TS-17 and 2 layers of clear..

I also wheatered the the engine a bit..

the front brakes has been finished.. still have the some things left on the rear ones..

I have dremeld out the hole on the rear airducts to make them look abit more realistic.. here is how it came out.. *NOT FINISHED

I have also finished the wheels.. did some markings on them too.. don´t know if they are accurate though  :P LOL

That´s it for now.. stay tuned for more updates

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

the brake cooling ducts are a nice touch!

what did you use to put those markings on the tires? a correction fluid pen?

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

no offense but it seems that you applyed the clear coat or possibly the ts-17 too heavly causing what i call "definition", meaning that panel lines and certain contours of the body are darker than the others

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

okey here is the update for today.. finished decaling.. the women in the front was a hard one  But I think I did preety well.. I still have to work with models to call myself great I think.. But at the moment I´m not trying to think negative.. Just want this WIP out of my head so I can continue with the Ferrari :-?

And here is my "CF".. It´s flat-black and to REALLY make the cf stand out I press some against the "thing" when is has ALMOST dried..

And for those of you that has been following my works troughout the years KNOWS that I LOVE mockups just to see how it looks

and THIS happens whenever you give Rickard too much time and nothing to do :P This looks like a toon car.. hehe

And this are some nice Le Mans pics I took with my C5R.. only that the C5R drove in the Daytona 24h :-?

Re: Mercedes CLK-GTR Team CLK Sportswear WIP

Nice one, this is one of my next models too :-)

By the way, for your tires marking, you got two left front tires and no left rear :-P
