question about convertor

Can anyone tell me what affect running a 1997 dodge dakota 3.9
without a Catalytic convertor will have. I'm really getting tired of replacing them, so i've taken all the insides out and I'm running it that way.
will I hurt the engine or effect my power or gas mileage?
thanks for any help.

Thumbs up converter

About your CC. I'm not sure but you might get a check engine light for emisions. That should be all. Performance won't change, unless you actually cut out the insides so its straight thru, then you'll get a little better performance, nothing to scream about though.

yeah, check engine light will probably come on. you will gain some performance clearing it out. you will also get a ting like sound out the tail pipes.

It's not as bad as it sounds. If you gut your converter and leave the stock muffler on you will notice the ting sound i told you about, but if you go to a performance muffler, then you won't have the "ting" problem.

I already have a dynomax muffler on it, but by the end of the summer, I'm planning on some split header dual glasspacks (I just want it loud, but tings ain't gonna work).

aww, you won't have that problem when you put a performance muffler on. But since you have a dynomax muffler on, it will not be noticable.
