Who is/was the Best Guitarist?

Pick who you think is/was better and why you think so.

Re: Who is/was the Best Guitarist?

in my book, there is no better and worse... i'll tell you who my favorite of those listed is, however:

Jimi Hendrix - i really don't think it needs an explanation.

some guitarists that i'd say belong up in the running are:

Buckethead
Adam Jones
Joe Satriani
Steve Vai
Yngwie Malmsteen
Carlos Santana
Tom Morello
Frank Zappa
Trey Anastasio
...you know, i could just go on and on and on...

Re: Who is/was the Best Guitarist?

Jimmy Page. His solos are amazing and his unconventional use of a violin bow on was awesome. I've yet to find a solo as great as his during the live performances of "Stairway to Heaven"

Re: Who is/was the Best Guitarist?

Not to be technical, but there's a problem. B.B. King is a different kinda guitarist compared with Jimmy Page and the others. Just like the freakin' grammies, you cannot put Linkin' Park, Nelly, and Cly Aiken in the same catergory. Now, i don't think it's that bad but still...

ok, rant done.

Eric Clapton then Jimmy Page. After that it's kinda tied for me. Just that I've seen Eric Clapton and how he does it so naturally and can play anything as soon as he has a guitar. Haven't seen PAge, only listened and what he's wrote is amazing and how he's performed. I guess you get a different perspective when you see someone...idk.

Re: Who is/was the Best Guitarist?

Angus Young. While his talent isn't what say Jimmy Page's would be, his showmanship and stage presence well makes up for that!

He was a bass player.

I think Rusty Cooley is the best guitarist I can remember seeing.

I have fond memories of seeing Dimebag play.

I'd rather listen to myself play bass than anyone else.

Puhlease. Dragonforce will be the reason for metal's infiltration, and annihilation by the mainstream. They will bring the downfall of metal.

Re: Who is/was the Best Guitarist?

Why is John Petrucci not on this list? Dream Theater anyone? No?

The clouds are hanging lower as of late. Surrounding all in sight. I can't say that it's a bad thing; perhaps the lack of sight will sharpen our sense of it. After all, there is always that wish to have a heightened sense of something...isn't there?

That doesn't matter though. All that matters is now. Here. And what is here? Why, it is only myself and this road. I've been walking a while, and I've come to find that no matter how much I try to stray from this direct path, I always find myself back on it. I can't say this is by way of my own fault, because it is not. I've tried to create a road of my own, only to find that all roads I choose to make, lead me to the one that is already made. Alarming? Maybe not so much. Deterring? Never.

I love these cloudy days. Have I mentioned that? Wonder has always been something my mind has enjoyed and to be in a constant state of it is wonderful. My bones and flesh soak in every drop of it, until I can take no more. And then? And then I take more still. Surely you know of what I speak.

I'm sorry, but I must leave you now. My wondering mind is getting the best of me and uncertainty beckons me.

Until we meet again...
