Question TopSpeed Cold Air Intake? CAI

Does anyone have one or heard about them? A local shop said that their performance is comparable to that of AEM's. At $145 with the bypass valve, it's alot cheaper than AEMs at $240 with the bypass valve.

Let me know what ya'll think.

I say you go for it.

But be wary of that bypass valve bullshit. AEM had problems with those I think it was just a sponge that was supposed to help keep water out of the engine, but the sponge was so crappily fitted that people were sucking em into the engines.

Also $240 for AEM CAI is a rip, you should be able to get it for $180 or less. But I agree, just go with any aftermarket intake.

i always thgoutht the air bypass valve was like a filter that when water got into the end of the intake it allowed air to go through the bypass valve and not create a strong vacuum from the end of the intake as to not suck up any water
maybe im wrong

yup..you're exactly right (as far as my understanding )...I think he was just saying that the foam could get sucked into the intake and into the engine..I personally cant remember hearing this happen with the bypass valve, only with the weapon r dragon filter....but I can see how it could easily happen..

Yeah, the first version of the bypass valve was faulty. they made a recall. The foam that was along the outside was getting sucked right into the intake manifold.
However they have a new bypass valve out. I guess it's fine, i havent got a notices about it..

The way the bypass valve works is:
If your intake filter it TOTALY submerged in water...the bypass valve starts sucking the air through it.

In my mind it's a waste of money.
what are the chances your going to have the filter 100% under water?
so you getting waterlock is VERY rare.
