Unhappy Life is really strange ...

Yesterday on my way to work traffic was backing up big time for the exit I usually take, so I jumped off an exit earlier. I ended up behind a motorcylce police officer.

For some reason, I just kept feeling like I was going to hit him. I don't know why, but I could not get rid of that feeling so I kept giving him really wide berth. We were mostly cutting through 25 mph roads and I was leaving at least 2, if not 3, full car lengths between us.

We entered a traffic circle and I gave him even mroe room. All I could think was if I was near him, I would hit him.

I don't know why.

What I know now, is that about 4 hours later ... this happened to him.

Life is weird.

Re: Life is really strange ...

How do you not see a guy standing in the middle of the road next to a 1000lbs. bike?

I had the same question in mind. Hard to believe...

Did you smell oranges? Do you have "the shine"? j/k... It really is strange how some safety mechanism kicks in sometimes or rather a feeling of knowing something will happen to somebody whether you're involved or not.

It was the same cop ... toward the end of the article it mentions that they only have one motorcycle in that department.

He was hit in between a set off on and off ramps.
I can only suspect that the driver that hit him was "looking for his place to merge" instead of watching what was in front of him.

good thing you listened to your instincts and stayed a good distance behind him.

did anyone else notice the driver's age? 69...these elderly drivers are really starting to scare me. they can't see as well, they're slower, which i'm sure contributed to this accident.

Driving slow isn't exactly a bad thing, but the slower reaction times older drivers may have can be.

yeah i meant slower reaction times. but i've been stuck behind some elderly people doing literally 25 under the speedlimit too. who knows if they were even aware of it...people who go that slow can also be a hazard.

There's a certain danger in being an extremely passive driver. I mean you don't have to drive like an New Yorker. but if you are so frigtened you cannot drive the speed limit, then will you be able to merge and change lanes properly? will you keep your composure when driving in dangerous conditions?

Probably not
