Glue for installing Aoshime wing ..
I have a Aoshima wing I am going to attach to a Supra which is already painted and clear coated. I was wondering what the best type of glue to use. I have plastic cement, white glue and super glue. Thanks!

Re: Glue for installing Aoshime wing ..
Tiny amounts of white glue. It'll be delicate, but if you knock it off later, the glue will come right off an not hurt the finish underneath.

Re: Glue for installing Aoshime wing ..
Yeah .. I guess I'll have to use white glue. It just takes so long to set up. How would you have handled this? Would you have put the wing on first and then paint everything after masking? I don't think that it is possible.
This issue comes up when I'm considering what to do with the side view mirrors. Sometimes I put them on first, but it is kink of hard to paint around them. If I put them on later, I run into the same issue I have with this wing. Any ideas? Thanks! John B |

Re: Glue for installing Aoshime wing ..
Nope, just like you did it. For little dangley bits like wings and mirrors, paint then glue.
Just make a rig to prop up the wing at the back of the car while the glue sets up... |

Re: Glue for installing Aoshime wing ..
Thanks, Jay. Its nice to see that I'm doing something right. I've built a rig to hold the wing made out of toothpicks and funtack.

Re: Glue for installing Aoshime wing ..
I used an Aoshima wing on my Revell Eclipse. I think in the future I will drill small holes and pin it with wire to the trunk to make it more secure with less glue to squeeze out onto the paint (which is what happened with my Eclipse)

Anyone recommend any good two-part epoxies?

Re: Glue for installing Aoshime wing ..
I picked up a single use pak of '3 min' at a local Walmart for $1
It's still in the package at home so I can check the brand later. I would think devcon or loctite though.
