Samuel Adams homebrew contest

Did you guys see the Sam Adams homebrew contest? Is anyone else really fuckin intrigued? The kit is only like $115, I am going to get a buddy or two to help me buy/make it and do it. It takes roughly 2.5 weeks to brew, but you get 24 bottles of beer out of it. All the beer I have ever had was nasty, I dont like it at all. I've had a Bud Light (best of the beers so far but still didnt like it), a Michelob Gold Light (tasted like shit), a Busch Light (didnt have hardly any body, tasted like fucked up water), and I think the other was a Miller Lite but I cant remember what that one tasted like. I hope this doesnt taste like all out ass, I kinda want to figure out how to make the malt drinks like bacardi raz silver or that smirnoff watermellon. That would be good. Any one else going to try it?

Re: Samuel Adams homebrew contest

Any suggestions other than La Cerveza del Big D? (I need to think of a name for my beer , that one means "The Beer of the Big D")

The idea of the contest is to make the best tasting beer. I just read some of the fine print, you need to be 21 to enter (damn!) and it looks like the winner gets a chance to get their beer brewed by the Boston Beer Company. If it by chance does get brewed you get a "one time $5000 royalty." Kinda gay if you ask me, its basically having thousands of new beers to take your pick from, taking the best ones, then should you find one you like, you get to keep the recipe for a measly $5000 to the creator. One smart fucker came up with that plan, I tell you what.

Edit: they have artificial flavorings and blank bottles. Guess what I am going to make. I think I am going to try to make some Smirnoff type stuff. That would be the shit.

Re: Samuel Adams homebrew contest

Thor, try some Premium Grain Belt, that's some good shit. It's hard to find but you shouldn't have any problem in Bemidji. If you can't find that, get some Corona and put a slice of a lime in it.

Re: Samuel Adams homebrew contest

Smirnoff and Bacardi are for girls to get drunk off of because they are too pussy to drink hard liquor or beer. Be a man and just drink the shit down like everybody else, after 3 or 4 you don't care about the taste anyways and the shit is cheap compared to the malt beverages, which = more drunkeness for the money.

That's the dumbest reason I've ever heard for drinking beer. I down it because I like how it tastes, not because I'm insecure of my manhood.

Re: Samuel Adams homebrew contest

So Bacardi Superior, Limon, Grand Melon and Smirnoff Vodka are girls drinks? Better specify next time. I can only have like 1 Mikes and then I get sick of them because they're too sweet, otherwise I'd probably drink them like mad, for the same reason as Crunchy. And you probably get 1/2 as fat off of shit like that, but who cares about calories when drinking alcohol.

|_eclipse_|, if you want to challenge my manhood then you are welcome to, just be sure you have a cushion for your ass. You'll be on it pretty quick, some padding will reduce the risk of ass injury when you hit the ground. I didnt get my nick name Big D for no reason.

So I dont like beer, big deal. Atleast I dont drink it just because everyone else does.

I personally like Killians as my strong beer, it's Irish Red Lager, give it a try.

Alright, my comment was a little outspoken. My bad. I don't especially like beer either, but when you go to house parties and you get a cup for $5 and the keg becomes your friend. You don't care what's in it, just that it gets you drunk and it only cost you $5. Your going to college next year, you will understand.

I also have yet to find a beer that I actually LIKE how it tastes, there are a few that I can TOLERATE to an extent where I don't mind drinking. If you like how much beer tastes so much, what exactly are you drinking? I have yet to see you suggest something.

Go to a market type of place. Most cities have them, they will have good beers. The really good ones come in wine bottle. If you want something really fucking good, look into dogfish IPA, 60 or 120 IPA are badass. Actually pretty much anything dogfish is good. Scheinerbach (sp?), blue moon (one of my fav's), heffenweisen (sp?),

check out beeradvocate.com ,

Especially if you're used to the crappy bud, miller, etc, these will really blow your mind These aren't "getting drunk" beers, you don't drink a dozen of these at a time. In fact some of the dogfish's are about 20% alcoholl haha
