check engine light on after a clutch replacement

Hi all,

I just had the clutch replaced on my 1996 4x4 pathfinder and noticed the engine light on. I took it down to autozone and had it scanned and it came up a crank postion sensor. I had the guy clear the codes and started it up and the light stayed off. However the next time i started the vehicle it came right back on. I was just curious if anyone had any ideas what this might be. Could it be a wire that my mechanic left off?
thanks ahead of time

Re: check engine light on after a clutch replacement

Nope, that's the crank angle sensor inside the distributor. You'd be hard-pressed to damage that while changing the clutch. If that sensor dies altogether, the engine won't run...

hmm the crank angle sensor, do you have any idea why it might be coming on? vehicle seems to run fine and runs smooth. is the light on meaning its fixing to go bad?

could be the cam sensor going it compares itself to the rpm signal the crank sensor puts out but it could throw a crank code,.
