Dammit I bought an import

Still got my camaro but I came across a very interesting car. 1994 Miata, yes a miata. It is a bit of a girls car but there is a bit of redemption factors.

Like the $2000 in suspension work, or perhaps the fact its ever so slightly supercharged (8 psi, fuel pump, regulator, boost control, intercooled, twin screw), other than that is is the R-package, basically means no AC, no Power steering, has to come in manual (most did anyways), Torsen LSD, bigger sway bars, additional cross members. Also aftermarket exhaust but you cant really hear it with the supercharger... only bad news was that the motor was busted because it wasnt installed right... but I replaced the motor so im good... infact it should be up and running tomorrow... I actually only got to drive it for a couple days before it started leaking really badly (hole in the head where SC mounts), but I just want to say right now: "Balls to the Wall" fast. Im not sure if im going to sell it or not, I was thinking autocross... but yeah, dont post on here much anymore but felt like sharing

Re: Dammit I bought an import

2 guys at my work have miatas. Cars are made more for the corners and not straight lines. The supercharger must add a nice bit to the power-to-weight ratio. Yeah, a chick's car and you must be under 5 feet to fit in one too.

Re: Dammit I bought an import

Yeah, you should sell it and use the money to buy a supercharger for the maro. Now that would be fast.

Um , no comment but fun car to drive but I will not tell you how I know that .. and Miata was owned by ford in 94 so its being a import can be debated.

Was thinking the same thing, especially since their B-series pickups are identical to the Ford Ranger. It's almost like the how the Ford Taurus is almost identical to the Mercury Sable.

"Ford and Mazda entered into a capital alliance in 1979 when Ford acquired a 25 percent stake in the Hiroshima-based company. That partnership was further strengthened in 1996 when Ford increased its stake in Mazda to 33.4 percent."
-excerpt from www.mazda.com

So yeah, currently that car is 2/3 import and 1/3 domestic

EDIT: Oh btw, forgot to mention, congrats on the car man. Try to get us some pics.

I have seen stuff on the internet where they put ls1's into those things. It would be like your own cobra, but not a cobra.

Back in the day it was popular to put ford 5.0's in those and they called them monster miata's.

Think so??? My buddy's dad has one, he's retired so him and his buddy take it out all the time, golfing and all. They're both 300+ and ones 6' and the other is 6'5". (Quite a sight).

Re: Dammit I bought an import

Rather have a Honda...

S2000! Well its kind of like a Miata but way cooler looking and without the chick car status. Like an Fbody when compared to a Mustang.

Re: Dammit I bought an import

My best friend has a Black S2000 and yes they are very cool. I wish I still had my old 2 seater roadster though. BMW Z3, best car in that class. I had the 2.8 version and that thing being so light with a decent amount of power had some balls. Not a ton but some.

Re: Dammit I bought an import

Weel im like 6'2" and I seem to fit in it fine and I know of the 302 ones, the only trouble with that is weight ratio; from the factory its virtually 50:50 p;us the supercharger makes it one hell of a sleeper and there is nothing more I would love to do than to smoke some mustangs

I only have a couple pics, the one of the enigne is actually the old engine but pretty much the same thing
