Hood latch problem

Hey, I'm trying to fix all my little problems and i just figured I would put this one up. When I unlock my hood latch, it doesnt come back out, and without it out all that keeps my hood closed is the safety, and I dont trust that. I can get the latch to "lock" again (not sure on the right terminology) but I gotta beat on a bolt next to the latch with a hammer, which makes vibrations which cause the latch to come out. I already took it out and soaked it in WD-40, that did nothing, anymore ideas? Should I just try to find a new one? If so, where should I go and how hard will it be to replace? Thanx in advance :frog:

Your question is really confusing... Are you saying that when you pull on the hood-release, it doesn't actually release the hood?

If that's the case, open up your hood, and look at the bottom latch (by the radiator). You will see 2 bolts (10mm I think). If you loosen these bolts, you can move the lower latch around inside the hole a little bit. Then re-tighten the bolts and see how the hood matches up... After a couple trys, you should be able to get it right.

Worse comes to worse you could go to a junkyard and get another one.

Yeah it is confusing, let me try to explain it better. Its not the hood-release, that works fine, its the little disc inside the hood latch which releases the hood thats the problem. It'll release the hood fine, but it stays in the release position, so the hood doesnt latch. Beating on the bolt near the latch vibrates the little metal disc inside the latch enough to make it come out. Thats my problem, hope its more understandable

OK, I understand now...

Have you tried any lube? Like some WD-40 or something... could be a bad cable also... might wanna pick up a whole new one at the JY.
