Help with low gas mileage

i have a d16z6 i just put on an AEM ram air on and i have noticed lower gas mileage this tank im gonna end up at around 260 when i am usually at 300+. now it has been 100* plus out here in cali lately and im about to need and oil change but i was wondering if the intake could have anything to do with it?

Re: Help with low gas mileage

change your oil, re-fill, and check again. You'd be surprised how many little things go away with an oil change.

Possibly you've been driving a little bit harder since the new intake install. More power and sweet sound can be tempting for the right foot. Anyway, if the low milage still persists, try some Lucas fuel system cleaner, great stuff.

how many miles are on your motor? Might be time for a seafoam treatment. My motor looooves me since I did it

How do you use the seafoam, in the fuel or through a vacuum line? Both?

Gas tank, crankcase, vacuum lines...your choice.

Re: Help with low gas mileage

both... 1/3 in the gas tank, 1/3 in the oil fill cap on the valve cover, 1/3 in the brake line on the firewall. Start car, rag the HELL out of it. Rev up till you can't rev any higher, drive her hard, abuse the hell out of her. Then change spark plugs and voila. Think of it as it's like giving someone who is sick a decongestant, and abusing and ragging the car is like "coughing". I actually pulled off my catback afterwards and ran degreaser through the whole thing... black tar/carbon was all over it. Car snot, lol. Then I replaced the header (I had an aftermarket one waiting, and when I seafoamed her I used to stock header). Such an improvement. Search honda-tech for detailed instructions, and be prepared to blow spark plugs.

Re: Help with low gas mileage

seafoam at a full tank. seafoam with the stock header on, because it will get nasty. You need to have spark plugs like on standby.. as I said.. you WILL blow your plugs, which means you won't be able to go anywhere. oil change afterwards probably wouldn't hurt either

Re: Help with low gas mileage

mine never actually shut down... you rev and drive until the smoke stops. When the smoke stopped mine was running on 3 cylinders. Changed the plugs, started her up, life has been beautiful since. VTEC hits a lot harder now... The B18c1 is a work of honda art, I swear... IAB's open at 3800 and push you back in the seat a bit, then at 5700 VTEC hits, and from there to 9000 it's a cargasm... (Yes, I have an ECU chip, and yes, I have the engine work to support it)

Re: Help with low gas mileage

lol well step one is to swap in a B18c1. Step two is to build it. Step 3 is to boost it. Step 4 is to change your shorts.
