well
Well our TL isn't exactly a sports car, that has been a major complaint along with the auto shift between 1st and 2nd gear. Its not healthy to run past 6300 anyway, there is a fuel cutoff however, if you say leave it in park and rev it up, it stops at like 5500, free reving is bad.

The early generation TL's (the 4-speeds, 99's) they were free shifting from 1st to 4th, the reason acura changed it was, 1st gear was getting abused, acura wanted to avoid people making mistakes by tapping down too many times, and going in to 1st too early. I know it is electronically controlled to keep you from doing it at too high of speeds. its annoying i know. there is currently know simple way of doing it. on another board someone asked about it and i believe the answer was that you would have to change the ECU, some type of piggyback control unit maybe, something like hondata or AEM's EMC, but $1500 is a lot just to be able to shift from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st.
