Found pics I didn't know I had of an old car. (Reminiscing)

I've always talked about how I used to own an Integra, but I never took pics of it. Then today, going through some old papers, my wife found the pics I scanned below. It's of my old Integra after it was repaired after my front end met up with the back end of truck that didn't have brake lights.

It's a scan of a photocopy of 4 polaroids the bodyshop took, so the quality is horrible.

At this point, it's got a JDM B16A with LSD with some work that redlined at about 10,000 RPM. I used to call it my motorcycle on 4 wheels. Never took her to a 1/4 track, but it handily beat an Eclipse GST that had run a 14.5 the weekend before, with slips to show. The Eclipse jumped about a car from a dead stop, and I had him by two cars by 90, with the gap growing slightly. I also spray-painted the steelies flat black soon after these pics were taken.

It wasn't much down low, due to the high-revving nature of the motor, but damn that thing was beautiful on the freeway. Considering at the time I had this car, I worked about 50 miles away on a commute that was 80% freeway, this was awesome. A co-worker once paced me in his Yamaha ZR1 at about 155 mph, he said.

I had this car from 1998 to 2001, at the height of ricerdom, and I am glad to say, with the exception of the single wiper thing, of which the wiper was never painted, and I did remove the 2nd motor for weight savings, I never had a single sticker or gaudy wing or bodykit on the car. As a matter of fact, I prided myself on how stock the car looked, despite my tweaks here and there. Also, those aren't clear corners - those are JDM one-piece headlights. I used to love killing the "big-wing folks" with my stock-looking car.

Despite the RPM range of the car, the only *known* modification the motor had to compensate were titanium valve springs, so I hardly ever took it past 8500. I had plans to build the motor more, but I sold the car before that happened. Motor held up to that day, at least, believe it or not. It had a custom ECU from Hasport (Joe from Lo-Cash racing programmed it). I got lucky, and scored a JDM Mugen header real cheap that was attached to the motor when it shipped in. The rest of the exhaust was custom 2.5-inch piping, with a VERY hi-flow cat (basically illegal), and ended in a very discreet Comptech muffler that sorta looked like the one pictured below.

It also had a CAI system, when CAI systems were somewhat new. I personally think there was more done inside the engine, considering the expensive header that came with the engine, and the sometimes unexplainable speed she had, considering the known mods, but I never opened her up to look.

All in all, I loved the car, but had to sell it after my son started getting bigger. I did move 'up' to a 4 door newer Civic afterwards, but I believe that will be the last foray I will make into 4-cyl FWD Honda/Integras, as far as 'performance' goes. The only Honda/Acura I would consider nowadays would be an S2000 or NSX, neither of which are practical for me right now. But hey, never say never.

Did you ever take that thing off any sweet jumps?

I dont know why but i keep scrolling up to look at it, i dont know if it's the fact i'm mesmerized by the car or the outdated polaroids used to capture the car.

Yeah the picture quality is expectedely bland, but it does look like a very clean car...

and those b16 were apparently magical, little things that could handle all your abuse...just like the b18's

Weight savings bucko! Weight savings!

Also, because of the power map the custom tune gave the car, it was dog-slow for the first 6000rpms - kinda like an S2000, I guess. But once it hits the sweet spot, that thing pulled.

My gas consumption was worse than my current V6 sedan, because even though I kept it under 8500 most of the time, I also kept it above 6000 as much as I could. It was suprisingly deep-throated, an effect of the Comptech muffler, so it wasn't as bad as you would think.

Comptech makes a nice sounding product. My room mate has their headers and exhaust on his TSX, and coupled with the Injen CAI, it sounds real nice, not to farty, just right for the car. I cant say anything about quality, but my room mate has had no complaints other than it scraping when he backs in to a spot.

I always liked the one headlight 'Tegs, more so than the dual units on the more recent ones. Dunno why, I just think it looks classier.

Cuz itz JDM y0!

I always knew CassiesMan was a JDM guy at heart. Japan got rid of those duals cuz no one liked them and went back to the oldschool ones until it got replaced by the DC5.

Must have been a fun car. The honda/acura V6's really roar with a exhaust and SRI. I haven't heard the comptechs, but I got Tanabe on mine and it sounds great.
