Some races
Well, its been a long time since I've done any real racing, I think about two weeks before I left MO, which was like, early May. Anyways, last night I was bored as hell, couldn't get in touch with any of my friends down here, so I decided to go out for a bit, see what I could do.
It was your standard Texas night, just cool enough to put the windows down and kill the AC, and I had some George Acosta turned up. I was cruising along the area where I get most of my races, and saw a bunch of nice, fast cars who I doub't would waste their gas on me, so I just watched them cruise a little bit. I finally get up front on a light, and some aggressive driving had couth the eye of an IS300. He pulled up next to me, it was one of the Sportbacks, had his windows down and had some crap, I mean rap, turned up way loud. He looked over at me and reved a few times, and I glanced over, and was honestly not suprised. Local white boy, probably goes to CHS, hat on sideways, trying to look all Mike Jones and what not. So I just nod, and kill the TC/DSC, and drop into first, bringing the revs up to about 1500. He reved a few more times, and it sounded like he had at least an exhaust, if not an intake. Light goes green, and we both punch it. I let off the brake a touch early so I had a bit of a roll (like a whoping half mile an hour) on when I mashed it. Didn't get much of a jump on him, my first gear is useless. We stay doors up to second, and I shift early into third at about 50. He gets a nose on me, I hit sixty and start to pull on him pretty quick. By seventy I have a nose on him, and around 80 his nose was at my door. I take it up to about 110-115 where I let off and he goes flying by me, and hits the emergency flashers. Now normally, ricer fly bys like that just make me laugh. However, for some ass odd reason, that one pissed me off. I dunno why, but it did. So I pull up next to him at the next light, and decided to pull a Musashi. It went something like this: Me: Hey, nice run, what you got under the hood? Him: Ram air intake, octane booster, and exhaust, on a JDM 2JZ, what about you? Me: Just a puny ol' 2.5I6 with cold air intake. Too bad with your extra mods, you couldn't beat me Him: Fuck you d00d, you wish you were fast Me: And you wish you had a BMW and not a POS Toyota This pissed him off. A lot. He swore some more, and I just laughed. He wasn't paying attention, and when the light went green, I punched it, walked out about half way through the intersection before he even got on the gas. I layed on it, pulling out to near 120ish when I shut down, and hit my flashers. He wouldn't pull up next to me once we hit a red light. Next race was a good one, real good. It was up against another E46 325i, same color as mine, same interior, everything. Pretty cool guy driving it, he said he saw me run the IS, and wanted a go. I asked him what he had done, and he said stock, and I told him that I had the Carbonio CAI which added like, a full 2 whp at most. He said he was thinking about buying that same one, and I told him its a good buy. Anyways, we kinda cruised slow, trying to get a light, and finally did. Light goes green, and I get off the line pretty smooth. We take it up to about 110, and he was actually a little further back then I thought he would be, his nose sitting at my rear wheel. We drop down to sixty, and I point towards my wheel and hold up three fingers, and he got the idea. I honked us down, got a decent jump of about a 1/4 car, and held him there from 60 up to about 115. He gave me the thumbs up, and then turned off, going somewhere else. Next run was a death, and I knew it was gonna happen, but still had fun. LT1 'Maro, stock, and from 0-95ish, he had me down by about four/five lengths. I'm thinking the only reason he didn't beat me real bad was it was an auto with an old worn motor. Guy was still pretty cool about it. It was getting sorta late, so I hopped on the highway to take the scenic route home. About halfway back, I hear a nice sounding older civic Si (the one that looked good in a hatch, not the minivan looking one) just up in front of me. I move through traffic and get next to him, and right as I do, he takes off, and I just mash the gas, but don't even really try. He lets off, and I get next to him again, slowing down to 60-55ish, and he points to his horn. He has his window down, and so do I, so I shout on three? and he nods. He honks us down, and I'm right in the begining of third, which is a good spot for me. Third honk we punch it, and I stay right at his door, actually pulling my nose on his just a little. We stay like this all the way through 70, and at about 80, he gets the nose back. At 90ish, Cassie is starting to run outa breath, and I know for a fact I'm barely holding on. At 95, he starts his pull, and doesn't pull to hard, but smooth when he lets off. I was at about 120 when he did, and he was five lengths give or take up. I exit the highway, and he follows me into a gas station, and we talk a bit. He had the stock motor (B16 I think?) rebuilt when he bought it becuase it had some ungodly amount of miles on it. He had a short ram, and exhaust, and I think he said Hondata or something along those lines, and I think he also said headers, or maybe it was a different head, not sure. He was suprised on how well I held with him up to 80. Next race I regained Cassies honor over Hondas. Last race of the night, I'm heading home when I get stopped at a light. It was one of those BS lights, were there is no one around, but becuase its on a timer, you still get red. I see some HIDs comming up on me, and a black minivan Civic Si pulls up next to me. Had all the usual stickers: AEM, HKS, DC, etc. etc. etc. He looked over at me, and bounced the little four banger off the rev limiter, and I just nodded. I knew for a fact I would whup him, as I took a I/E Si of the same kind from a roll when my car had me, my girlfriend, a TV, Computer, big ass stereo, and tons of other shit in it from a roll. Light goes green, I don't even really try to hard launch, I just roll off the line and punch it. Walk away from him bad, maybe three, four lengths, and shut down at 70 (not worth the ticket for a Slow import...Si=Slow import? Get it? Ok I'm done). He pulls up next to me at the next light, and we had another fun little convo: Him (Note, he was the standard CV/G white boy): Damn bro! What you got in that whip? Me: Huh? Him: Whats in that ride son? Me: Oh, uh, just a intake. You? Him: I got the hook up bro, I'm a friend of Mikes (I'm assuming he means this shop around call Mike's Customs or some shit like that, ricer store). Gots me an AEM Intake, Headers, and an HKS exhaust. Me: Yeah, thats nice. It actually sounds good for a Honda. Him: *laughs* Yeah son, its a tight ride. You should head there, get your whip fixed up homes! Me: Um, sure, I'll think about it. Light goes green, and he takes off. I had a gut feeling not to, and as I watch him speed away in glory, I see a black shap whip a u-turn, and the cherries light up on a squad car. I kinda laugh, and head on home, proud of myself for the night. Felt good to race again, seeing as its been way to long since I've last done any racing.

Re: Some races
You could get a decently nice SS LS1 if you traded in your Bavarian Motorwerks.

Re: Some races
Wumba-Colleyville, off 26. Most of the races were on NBS, the first Civic was at 121, the second on 26.
Ricer-yeah, 184 at the crank, 181ft-lbs. With the same intake that I have, dynos show it putting down about a buck sixty five, at the wheels. If I end up finding a job at get the exhaust and software that I want, I should be putting down about 175 at the wheels, then I'm gonna get a different intake that has shown a larger power increase. Of course, I need to find a job first.
