World Languages

So I'm currently in the process of learning Spanish. I took French during elementary and middle school and retained a good amount of it. English of course is my first language.

Just wondering how many people know multiple languages or are learning second languages since here in the United States not much emphasis is placed on learning a second language. Mostly because we spend so much time cramming English down everybody's throats. Whereas most people I know from other countries know three or four languages.

English (first language)
Spanish (Second language)
German (very little, forgot most of it from my old army days)

i would like to learn,
Italian, Korean, and Austrailian (cause god knows they speak something weird.)

I took 2 years of french and retained almost nothing.

I also learned german and became pretty good, I used to be able to hold a conversation in it, now you'd probably have to talk real slow for me to understand.

and english is my first language.

English and Afrikaans. Been speaking both my whole life so I can't really class anyone as first or second, although going by amount spoken, English would be first, since I speak Afrikaans to my mom these days.

English is my only fluent one but I learn Spanish, German and Maori in high school and I'm starting studying Spanish later on in the year at University.

I can speak English and Italian fluently, but also can speak French and German to a degree.

My first lanquage(s) is Thai/Laos. My mom is Thai and my father is Laos and they were both spoken in my household from as long as I can remember. They are close enough that it's easy to understand one language if you know the other English is my second, French being my third since I'm living in Canada, hehe... and I'm currently learning Japan, whoo!

I don't have a second but do know one phrase in spanish.
Uno mas cervesa porfavor... Can't spell in spanish either... Well can't really spell in english...haha
