I had an intake on the little 1.5L motor before I swapped it out. It didn't have the intake sound either. I think it has to do with the convoluted intake tract near the throttle body. Plus you not might be able to hear it if you are running a straight pipe.

Ok, little known fact on DPFi intakes. Take off the covering that says DPFI and remove the brass plate that is inside the box. i think this was an emissions trick to reduce power. I did it and the intake sounded better.

I have a 1.5 dpi motor and the intake sound is great on my car. I dodnt have to take that brass piece off, im not really sure about that mod. I have heard people say it's not a good one to do.

mine only has the intake sound when I am really flooring it and under about 3 rpms, after that the exhaust takes over. I might just put the stock box back on and sell the thing, cause I hear the stock box blocks dirt and water and stuff better. But the car seems peppier with this in. I bet I would be able to hear the intake better if I had stock exhaust

my friend has a 97 hb i love that engine set up, he bought a k&n and took off the air box because those engines the throtlebody is like facing up i guess and the filter is right there and he can take off his air box, it sounds tight as hell, i know it has nothing to do with this but..........

Take off the top of the box and look inside. it is empty except fo a brass plate that blocks the airfolw. I have had mine out for six months and my car stills perfect. All that piece does is block the airflow instead of giving a unintreputed path to the TB

Speaking of DPFI.... is the DX and under the only engine that has that little round box on top of the TB? Are all of the ZC's MPFI without that box?

The DX/LX are the only ones with dpfi. The ZC DOHC is mpfi.

Yes, the ZC is MPFI and has the same throttle body as an Si...The DX (and LX if it is a sedan) has the d15b2 with DPFI.

Back to turbcivic's plate thingie..I have also heard about it being a bad idea to take out the little plate...I have a DX with a CAI and mine doesn't have the cool sound either...but I sure hope my ZC does!!
