Icon jackets
What do you guys think of them. I was looking at the old timax jacket online and when I saw it in person it looks like it doesn't provide much protection at all. I mean it's made out of some meshy material. Would that serve as protection when I beef it.

Re: Icon jackets
Leather is ALWAYS preferred over mesh or textile for protection, but leather is also FAR more expensive and sometimes ill-suited to a situation (anyone live in da FL???
). Look around because there are several threads already on what is "best" for riding.

Re: Icon jackets
I saw a JoeRocket textiled jacket I really liked http://joerocket.com/jrf/home.cfm. It's the Corona Racing SuperStock. I tried it on and now I want to get it. But I really wanted at least a close-matching jacket to my red, black, and silver/white bike.
After posting this, I have no idea how this would help you.

Re: Icon jackets
i've just ordered an icon daytona jacket. 265.US. seems to be a good coat. havent gotten it yet but tried it on a few times in the store. it comes with a thick removeable liner. and lots of venting. as for protection saturn is right leather is your best bet for protection mesh is pretty useless. the padding is good but you still get road rash. i've crashed twice unfortuneatley but had my leather spike jacket on. walked away with a bruised hip and ego. the second crash i slid on my back for a few feet and the leather wasn't even scuffed. that was surprising.

Re: Icon jackets
i actualy have a daytona jacket , its a bit big , and need to get a smaller one , but its DAMN comfortable , and is warm as hell , but thos vents really dont do crap unfortunatly , but all and all , nice jacket , tho i am thinking of getting a bigger spine protecter , the one in the jacket seem a bit under par , its maybe a foot and 1\2 tall , and maybe a 1\4 inch thick , seems a bit small. but the shoulder and forearm pads are great , fit really well and are quite thick , im satisfied

Re: Icon jackets
Don't forget pants, gloves, and boots. Unless of course you don't like those parts of your body, or are just looking for an excuse to have someone else wipe your ass for 3 months while your hands heal.
