Installing JDM Side Markers On U.S. Civic
I Was Wondering How You Would Install JDM Side Markers On My U.S. Honda Civic Hatchback??? Do YOu Have To Buy Special Fenders, Or Do You Cut The OEM Fender TO Fit The Side Markers??? If YOu Have To Buy Fenders Can Somebody Lead Me To Right Place!!! If You Have To Cut The OEM Fender Can Somebody Tell Me The Step-By-Step Procedure, Also What's Going To Be Needed!!!!
THANKS |

you could buy the jdm fenders and install the sidemarkers...hit up suppliers of jdm front ends and see what they've got layin around..people dont always want the fenders....
..or you could cut up your stock fender...dremel or a drill will work...first thing to do is to tape off the area that you're cutting plus some more for protection..this'll keep the paint from chipping....figure out where you need to cut by looking at the back of the sidemarker...draw it out on the making tape....and cut away...paint the area somehow to keep it from rusting....tap into your bumper lights or corner lights and you're set...

be aware that JDM sidemarkers are different than USDM. USDM you need to cut a circular hole. JDM it's a square hole with 2 little notches. you need at least a file (to make the little notches)...a dremel will make it that much easier to cut the square.
i love my jdm sidemarkers and clear corners. i always thought the first set of aftermarket clear corners & clear sidemarkers. looked cheap. jdm stuff looks just like what it is....stock

I just ordered some clear sidemarkers off a website (I think it might have been for a VW Jetta).
What I did was made a template for the hole I wanted to drill. I used copper clad fiberglass to do this (I did it at work), but cardboard or something like that would work. The template looked like this: ![]() Then, I taped up the fender with masking tape, and lined the bottom edge of the template up with the top of the rubber molding on the side of the car. I lined the corner (with the red arrow) up with the edge of the door where it meets the rubber molding. Then, traced the hole to the masking tape. Then cut out the hole using a dremel with a cutting disc. I cut inside the line though to avoid cutting too much, then used the cutting disc to trim the hole to size (test fitting the corner lense several times). Then, did the same thing on the other side of the car by flipping over the template and using the other side. I lined up the template on the other side the same way. It was really easy, but just make sure your hands are steady so the dremel doesn't kick back and go tearing across the fender.

I tapped mine into the wiring for the bumper lights so they act like turn signals.
