2001 GT window track

Passenger side.

Anyone ever replace these???
The white clips both broke today and dropped the window.

Any idea how much of a pain this is??? I already have the door panel off.

Damn...looks like the T/A finally gets some time as a daily driver.

Re: 2001 GT window track

I've done both sides on my 95, they suck for manuvering room, expect to bleed a little. As for hanging it up, hold it outside the door to see how it looks when it goes in, once I figured that part out it took about 10 minutes to get it in and the glass lined back up. Don't forget to line the glass up with the front guide as well.

Re: 2001 GT window track

i have a 99 grand am gt, had the same problem on the passenger side, i got a new window regulator with electric motor 4 79 bucks from a1 auto.com.
now just a month ago my driver side regulator cracked, found out on another site that grand ams are known for this problem,(leave it to GM lol),but
anyway this time i went to carpartswholesale.com got the same regulator 4
69 bucks 79 total price shiped to your door. As with the first reply to your post the 95 grand am regulators are diffrent they look like scissor jack with a big bicycle crank a little harder to work with then ours. ours operate with cables it goes on pretty easy i didnt bleed any but u might wana have a buddy hold the glass while u tighten it down after u bolt the regulator to the door.not much to it.looks like GM couldve came up with something better tthen plastic sliders to slide up and down a metal groove on that regulator because i think the plastic gets hard and dryed out and gets stuck because of no lubricant and snaps as u let the window up and down. im thinking of coating the sliders with white lithium grease for better sliding. hope this helps.

Mr Luos, you're talking about the plastic clips that hold the glass in, right ??

Like romie said the 95s are diferent than the 99+.

I hav Epoxied the glass back in place if you couldnt find new clips for it. Just my :2cent:

Re: 2001 GT window track

Mr. L we covered this issue in several Alero forum threads so you might check there. Keyword search for "window" and "clip". Some of our members have come up with interesting fixes.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ht=window+clip

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ht=window+clip

The part (plastic clip) is called a sash. Same for two or four door. The part number is 22689012. Dealer retail is $8.17 each. It also states it requires US epoxy #12378568 (dealer retail $23.48) but you should be able to use other epoxy that will work on glass.

Helpful link on Grand Am power windows and door panel: See page 5.

Good luck!

Re: 2001 GT window track

on the new window regulator they come with the plastic clip on all ready on .i think because its a one piece deal you cant by that clip by its self this is the piece that the glass is acualy bolted to that slides up and down the regulator.

Re: 2001 GT window track

This post is about one year later than those above but I have to chime-in. There's a lot of confusion above concerning the so-called plastic clip for regulators/windows. Actually there are two separate plastic parts (both of which have been called 'clips'. There is the plastic part (2 on each front door) (on my Alero they're black) which is epoxied to the window and provide tabs that bolt to corresponding metal tabs on the regulator slides. These metal tabs are seated in a plastic part that slides in the guide channel and is supposed to engage the drive cable forever or 'til the fine print lets GM off the hook, whichever comes first. These white plastic clips (slides) are a design disgrace. Besides being weak to start with, they're made of nylon which will embrittle at an early age, particularly in the heat of a car interior. I'd like to torture the engineer who did this by tying him in a chair and then repeatedly unfold and refold a roadmap (incorrectly) right in front of his face. We've known for 50 years not to use nylon in this way. If every Alero & Grand AM owner who has suffered this problem had their names on one complaint list, there would have to be an immediate & total recall. Best deal I can find on the white plastic 'clips' is $21.93/ea at gmpartsdirect.com, P/N 22697622 (you'll need two for each front door). They may survive for a few years but they can also break anytime.
