Talking Hotshot Header

I just ordered my hot shot 4-2-1 header today ...anybody have this header, what do you think good buy. Plus i have stock exhuast but hopefully not for long. Also do you think i will need a new manifold gasket if i have 98000 mile on my car cause i heard thet you can use your stock one. I heard this is a nice header. I paid 350 for it i believe i got a decent deal what do you think??? For all that have it can i expect good results?

You will absolutely need a new manifold gasket. The gasket is not reuseable regardless of the miles.

You should always replace a gasket anytime you disassemble anything that uses one. Whether its your header, valve cover, exhaust, etc...

It's recommended to always replace these with new ones..

Yup, I had only 35K km (~20k mi) on my car when I put on the HS header. The gasket ripped apart easliy.

4-1 is mostly for low end power, mostly for off the line racing. 4-2-1 is top end power.

Yes, AEBS makes a 4-1 for the SR20DE. It hangs lower than the center brace and is a fair bit more difficult to install.

It is pretty much on par with the Hotshot for power and torque.

4-1 headers are not better than a tri-Y (4-2-1). They are different. They tend to give more power at the expense of the power band. Tri-Y headers tend to have a broader powerband at the expense of overall power. The AEBS vs Hotshot comparison puts them essentially in a tie.

Nope. Pretty much the opposite. The 4-1 tends to be peakier with a narrower power band. The 4-2-1 tends to have a broader power band.

Yeah P10DET is right, 4-2-1 is for low-end power with a broader power range. 4-1 is ALMOST always for high-end power. I say ALMOST because AEBS' 4-1 has more low-end torque than HotShot's tri-y due to it's trick collector design. Of course, the AEBS is going to have a major issue with ground clearance due to two pipes hanging lower than the under brace. I just got the gen. 4 HS header. I want to know from P10 MT drivers, what did you do with the stock ex. manifold bracket that is wedged between the tranny and the tranny mount?
