Weird telephone call

claimed they were my cell phone provider, offering me dicount on new phone, but i've never gotten a call from a foreign call center on my cell phone, and the discussion just didn't seem kosher. Could someone help me? I'm trying to figure out if 8664633017 belongs to a phone company, or if it's some guy on the other side of the world fishing for my phone number. Any help would be appreciated. Operator was useless.

Try to call your local phone company. They may have an answer for you. Or at least they will tell if this is a toll free number. If it is free I would call them and ask something stupid like: - I need to spead to Joe or something like this.

866 is a US number, or at least all the ones I've seen are.

Just tried a reverse phone search on whitepages.com. Here's the result:
We're sorry. We did not find a listing for the phone number you entered.
No information is available at this time for "(866) 463-3017".

I'm guessing scam. Find them and punch em in the face.

thanks for the advice. Phone company said it was toll free, but it only makes sense that my cell phone provider would use a toll-free line for calls like that. Problem is, they don't have the records of who owns which toll free numbers, because i could have sworn you bought those from the phone company. Local Operator was no help, her boss was no help, white pages had nothing. Oh well. I guess i'd better go give my account and routing numbers to the nice nigerian fellow that emailed me. He is having trouble getting money out of the country, and is going to pay me a million dollars to let him transfer his 20 million dollar payroll into my account.
