98 Ford Taurus Radio problem
I have a friend that has a 98 Ford Taurus and when she got it the radio was working fine. Now when the car is in reverse or drive the sound cuts off but the display stays on in the radio. You put the car in nuetral or park sound comes back on. I checked the wires everything looks to be factory. Would a fuse cause this that is one thing I haven't checked yet? Has anyone else ever had or seen this problem? Any help would be great
Thanks Chris |

Re: 98 Ford Taurus Radio problem
Where is the sensor located? Do you know? And is it a pain in the a$$ to change?

Re: 98 Ford Taurus Radio problem
It is located on top of the transaxle just below and to the inside of the master cylinder. It is fairly easy to change. Remove the shifting linkage, remove the wiring connector and remove 2 mounting bolts. Installation is just the opposite. There are marks that need to be lined up when the transaxle is in neutral. Look closely at the new part and it should have the marks already lined up. Part is generally well under 50$. have fun
