4th gen console in a 3rd gen

I've seen a 3rd gen Firebird with the newer rounded 4th gen console inside instead of the normal square-ish one.
Does anyone know what this might entail? Some Dremel work? Removal or exchange of parking break handle? Shift knob?

Re: 4th gen console in a 3rd gen

console = glove compartment storage thing? if it is, i feel your pain. the 3rd gen firebird one is placed so ridiculously. when you open the compartment, the parking brake cant be up!! if tis open and you rip the sidebrake, it slams into the storage and rips the cover off. that happened to my bird so much times >_<

Re: 4th gen console in a 3rd gen

Yeah, I hate the 3rd gen console (glovebox storage thing). My lid is all cracked underneath, so the screws barely hold it on, and the part of the console that the lid screws to is also all messed up. And, I can never find a good one at the junk year, and to order a new one is too much.
I think I'm going to find a nice 4th gen one. Thanks for those threads guys. I'm thinking of swapping out the seats too now.
